Hello....I purchased a Blueprint BPC4082CTC from Summit Racing yesterday to install in the wifes 72 Duster...I was wondering if this engine will arrive with 10 or 5 bolt valve covers?...Some of the file photos I have seen feature a chrome 5 bolt while others show a black finned aluminum 10 bolt style?....WIll it have the GM style large cap HEI distributor that I've seen in some photos while others show a stock style Mopar unit?....I am new to Mopars but not in building and working on cars have been a Chevy guy for over 40 years but switched over a couple of years ago starting with a 440+6 69 Roadrunner.....Last question...The Duster currently has an LA 360 with a 727...It was originally a 318 car....Will I need new engine mounts? and will be converting it over to an A833 4spd with the new engine swap. Which flywheel will I need?.....Thank You

It'll have Magnum valve covers is there different than the la valve covers...
Likely you'll have to modify the driver side engine mount but it's not rocket science and it's doable... Some just stack washers...
Johnny Mac just posted and said they're about 100 engines behind so you've got time to figure this out... At the price point definitely questions I would have asked ahead of time...

Thank you...Summit supposedly had 2 in stock....It appears that the other was also sold in the last 24hrs

Your wife wants a 408?..

Yes....for 35 years she's been a car girl for the whole ride....It was her idea to change this Duster it over to a 4spd...The current 360 is tired. We purchased the car due to it having a great body which is hard to come by in rural West Virginia and also there isn't what I would call a "Good" machine shop locally....So SHE decided that a crate engine with a warranty was the way to go and was immediately added to HER Summit Speed Card...Her current ride that she claims is her's also is this 56 Chevy gasser I recently built as a frame off..This one has a Chevy Performance 383 with an advertised 435 hp..Muncie M22 4spd and 9"Ford...She has no fear of our 69 A-12 clone she refers to as " Big Bird"..lol

listed as having magnum heads so I imagine it will have the magnum valve covers, even though LA covers will fit. Says nothing about which distributor it comes with, just gives timing requirements. On magnums there is a boss on the side of the block above the pan rail that interferes with some headers. Test fit headers with engine out of the car. Just an FYI. And it uses the pre-magnum 360 external balance harmonic balancer and flexplate/flywheel

Thank You...I had purchased a set of Dougs D453 that haven't been installed for the current 360 that was in the car...I hope they will work as the box has now been destroyed...A new engine was a decision made after evaluating what we had and the No local machine work issues

You can use the headers. A small grinder and 10 minutes time takes care of the boss that interferes.

Thank you for the info...My knowledge of what works and what doesn't is pretty decent with GM....But I've got a lot to learn about these Mopars....I wish I had got one 30 years ago...But they have never been plentiful here in Wv....Harsh winters and millions of tons of road salt took its tool

Glad you found a good one. I tagged Johnny in my first post so he’ll see it when he logs on. He works for Blueprint and is an excellent resource and really does an excellent job helping people on this forum with blueprints stuff.

Just making sure it wasn't your dream and it's her's... My wife dearly misses her 66 barracuda but couldn't care less if it had a slant six in it or what she doesn't drive fast.... I've got a 410 stroker in my duster and it's quite a bit to handle once you get on the loud pedal....
And I can't agree more about getting one of these 408's with a warranty like blueprint offers... I still don't see anywhere that can be that kind of deal...
Again my wife enjoys classic cars but her passion is more for shoes and purses LOL... Inadvertently she knows more about cars then half the car guys I know...

She likes old and new fast cars....She currently has more shoes than I've had in my life and does like the purses which I've always been good with because she's never said " Do we really need those 4.10 gears ?" etc etc..LOL.....Matter of fact a few years ago I bought my first purse which was a Louis Vuitton because shes wasn't willing to spend that kind of money on herself..LOL

Hey there! thanks for going with a BluePrint Engines. I'm the Product Manager of the company, and happy to help with any questions.
let me ask, did you end up getting an in-stock engine from summit? or was it ultimately sold out, so they ordered you one?

The current production Iron headed 408 will get the LA style chrome valve covers, and a small cap, distributor. But....if it was sitting there in stock for a while, that may differ.

regardless, it'll need an LA360 flywheel. It will however use a magnum balanced damper. our website is the best source of current add on parts, product info, the current picture, etc.

your motor mounts should be ok if they are 360 mounts, or will need a simple spacer if they are 318 mounts. passenger side only.
happy to help. let me know if you have one headed your way already from their stock or not. that can help me on the tinware answers. At one point I had this exact engine in my dart. It ran 12.20's with an ET streets, and an ATI converter.

According to Summit's site as of yesterday afternoon 4.30 EST ..They had 2 in stock ready for shipment...We purchased one and then I looked at their inventory of this particular item this morning and it said none were now available...The current advertised estimated shipping date is 6-13-2021 for any future orders...So I am assuming that what we purchased was in one of their facilities...Thank You

Well, if their freight is anything like their parcel shipping, you should know by tomorrow if it was in stock or not
