I tried installing the trim that goes along the top and down the quarter window headliner edge. I can’t get it to stay on. It doesn’t want to clip on long enough to do anything. Is there a secret I don’t know?

They should have clips inside the channel of the trim. Are they missing?

Are these the clips you have?

If so , you may have stretched them apart too much when you took them off. Squat them together a little more with a pair of channel locks or a vise, they should grip pretty tightly when putting them back on.

use a small dab of 3m weather stripping adhesive with a tooth brush ( on the metal)(I like black...) and some ultra small spring spring clamps/vise grips working both sides evenly TAKE YOUR TIME and let the adhesive dry...

you will be able to drum on it....

No guys, the headliner is already in. What I am talking about is the smooth metal trim that goes over the pinch weld. It has these clips in it (or at least very similar).

I can install the clips off the trim, but on the trim they dont want to go all the way on.

yeah, sometimes it's better to walk away /than to break 50 year old hard to find parts...ive used spray silicone (let dry):lol:on some clips before installing them/sometimes killing the friction allows them to set/relax the ones on my car had like a od green coating on them
