Some years back we were remodeling a bedroom. It was an old house, with an addition built at some unknown time.
The walls were all plywood installed with copper nails. Sadly, it had been poorly installed and the house had a roof leak that destroyed the ceiling and the plywood.
Anyhow, under the first layer of stuff we found star wars stickers on the walls installed sometime in the '70s during another remodel. Behind that we found the original beaverboard glued to the shiplap that made the walls.
Around one of the windows in the addition, they had used newspaper tacked to the studs as an air barrier. It was all from 1939 and 1940. There were all kinds of articles talking about Germany and such - we tried to save as much as we could but it was in pretty poor shape.
We also found that lots of the plywood used for shelving and random patch panels had come from ordnance shipping crates from the local naval yard.
Took forever to finish that room because we kept finding such cool stuff!
