Just purchased my first set of big boy tires for my 74 dart sport. looking at them up close theyre huge lol so if i end up having a bit of room to spare id love to slap some lowering blocks on it to even out the car a little. I have no idea which blocks to buy or which ones most a-body guys use. Any advice helps!

no its stock other than engine and trans. heard with a 275/60 you can still sqeeze out a bit more room

Depends on how much you’re willing to cut. Normally I’d say 275/60/15 is as big as you’re gonna go with the stock spring locations.

Tire clearance has always been trial and error for me. Mount them on the car and decide how much lower you want it. Order the lowering blocks then make the tires fit. You might need a thin wheel spacer for leaf spring clearance

Lowering blocks are not a good thing. Maybe on a pimpmobile but not on a car with drag radials. I think you'll have a more of a tendency to have wheel hop. Let us know how it works out.

You’re not going to do much lowering with those big tires. Why so big? Most guys over tire their stuff. If you are going for a certain look with the big tire I understand. But fitting the biggest tire for hook (traction) isn’t always the best policy.

I wouldn't use any lower block over one inch and it should be solid. Not a fan of the aluminum ones at all. 65'

Lowering blocks are fine, good grief. Anything 1” or less isn’t going to change anything you’re going to notice other than the ride height. Maybe if your pinion angle was barely adequate it would push you to needing a shim, but if it was good to start a 1” block wouldn’t put you out of range.

They should have a hole and a pin to locate the block and the axle just like the perch and spring do. Obviously the taller the block is the more you’re going to alter your geometry.

Ford F-250’s 4x4’s from ‘67-72 were called “high-boys” because they had 4” lift blocks in the rear straight from the factory. 4” and even 6” blocks are common for lifted trucks. I’m not saying I’d run a 4” block on my Duster or that it wouldn’t create geometry issues that would need to be dealt with, but a small block isn’t going to hurt anything as long as you have enough tire clearance.

Thanks for the info! I don't think I would go anything over 1" nor do I think I will even have the room to do haha. any recommendations on where to buy from? I may also need a set of 5-10mm spacers if you have any you could recommend

Calvert makes some nice steel lowering blocks.

mostly for look as sad as it sounds. my car pushes around 450 wheel so I realistically dont NEED these big guys but Ive always wanted a big tire car

There are guys running 8s in the quarter mile with three (they are stackable) 1/2 Calvert racing lowering blocks so I think you will be fine. That is the most they recommend and its best to tack weld them if you use that many and are racing.
