Getting ready to order a .080 copper gasket from SCE and was wondering if anyone wanted to get in on any. Currently they are $121.56 each. I am already paying the $90.00 custom engineering fee and freight to me, so you would just have the freight back to you. Currently looking at a 6 to 8 week lead time. Plan on ordering by the end of this month so PM me if interested. Will have the bore size info any other details this week.

Are these a flat copper shim style dead soft gasket or are they embossed around the fire ring?

why so thick? at some point I will have to go copper on my head gasket. just not sure I want to drop the compression when I do.

Just a FYI. Looks like SCE is getting greedy. I don't know why they are charging a "custom engineering" fee. They have made them before. I have at least one on hand, maybe two. Also have a Hussey Copper gasket on hand.

I have the standard .040 shelf ones. Going thicker and larger bore. Dead soft no fire ring. I was 13.2 with the old combination with .040 gasket. Piston is out over .045 now. Don't want to double up on .o40 is all.

SCE is just taking advantage of you not knowing any different as Charlie said. Plus, Clark Gaskets also has done many of them before as well as Hussey. I'd tell SCE to pound sand and don't spend your money in California....

So after talking to Hussey ($364.00 for a pair) and Clark ($308.00 for a pair) plus shipping and the normal 3 to 5 weeks out will probably try Clark being as they do have the material and should be a little cheaper on shipping. Thanks for the responses. Will continue on with the project.
