About 9 months ago, I posted some pictures showing myself teaching my 16-year-old grandson how to drive the 340 4 speed Barracuda. He had never driven a stick before. He did pretty well. Well, they are visiting again, so we went out for another drive today. This time his dad, my son-in-law, was with us, and the grandson is 17. BTW, He just got accepted to Notre Dame for next year, and they gave him a huge scholarship. We are so proud. Anyway, we have this perfect place to teach kids how to drive. It is a dead-end paved road about 3 miles long with a 90-degree bend in it about half-way, 99% of the time there is no traffic and there are great places to turn around at both ends. So after about 30 minutes of driving the loop, we came to a good spot, and I told him to stop in the middle of the road. Then I told him to give it a lot of gas and pop the clutch. First time, not enough gas and too much clutch; FAIL. Second time, a little better, but just a chirp; FAIL. Third time I told him to get the engine to about 2,000 RMP and right foot all the way down at the same time the clutch was popped; EPIC SUCCESS. He burned rubber for at least 50 feet. We even fish tailed a bit (which he handled quite well). Then he surprised us by banging it into second gear quite smartly. Thats when I told him to back off to normal. He was smiling from ear-to-ear. I wish I had a picture, but I was too busy teaching and watching. We all had a blast. Then I let him drive us home. I think he'll remember this day for a long time.

Thats awesome. I was a grandpa by marriage, & we divorced before he got anywhere near that age, but at 3 he used to sit on my lap & i'd let him steer my 68 340 Dart. He'd say "lets burnout grandpa" & he'd laugh his *** off.
I picked him up one time in the Dakota, & when we got back to the house he ran in and yelled "Nana, we were jamming Joe Satchian!" She looked at me kind of puzzled & I said Joe Satriani. I got a big giant eye roll. Joe Satriani Surfing with the alien! - YouTube
