Scored a Walker 4 ton
Several months back, I upgraded to a MAC floor jack from my 20 year old Craftsman. During the transition I learned a bunch about the ratings and quality of different jacks out there, and stumbled upon the old Walker brand. I'm a huge fan of old US-made tools, like my Wilton C3 vise from the 70s, so naturally I'd been on the hunt for a Walker floor jack ever since.
I found one for sale locally, but the seller said it needed work. He said the gears were rusted together and that there were other problems, but I figured I'd take a look. Upon inspection, they definitely weren't rusted -- just greasy and covered in dust, which made them look rusted.
Also in the sale were 7 Simplex screw jacks of various sizes. The entire package was $150, and I couldn't get my money out fast enough. I thought about restoring the floor jack, but I really don't see the need unless any of the seals start to leak. I'm just going to use it as-is until that happens.
