Radiator advice

Hello I have been doing a lot of research on whichbradiator to use and would like to know what others with much more experience would recommend. I have a 1972 model car with 22 inch radiator opening. My engine is almost finished hopefully i will pick it up this weekend the builder had to search far and wide for an intake manifold. It is a 360 with 9.8:1 compression, stock crank and rods, internally balanced, comp 276 cam, big valve j heads with mild port cleaning, using 340 exhaust manifolds, edelbrock air gap intake, and holey sniper. I have the classic autoair kit so it will have an ac condensor in front of the radiator. also borgenson power steering pump and steering box. It is a 4 speed car as well. I would like to run a mechanical fan with thermal clutch. It isn't going to be a race car but I figure it will be plenty strong for the street and was wondering what you guys would recommend as far as a radiator?
 
A 22" radiator with a built motor and AC should get the maximum cooling available. That is dual 1 1/4" tubes. All other options fall short. AS I have said in the past, the smaller volume radiators may get the job done, others will say they have had success, but what it runs hot after you've made a decision and purchase? Cold Case, Griffin, DeWitte and custom are your options. PM me if you want a forum member price on the Cold Case rad.

IMHO...

find a stock copper brass heavy duty /AC radiator. Or at least a HD cooling stock aftermarket. Be sure you have all the right pullies and the correct HD ,/ AC cooling water pump.

As for fan be sure you get a fan designed for AC / HD and stock shroud.

if you go with stock parts for the ENGINE and HD / AC cooling radiator you will be in good shape.

It is a basically stock engine and a manual trans to boot.

All good recommendations here for the topic starter. The only thing I see time and time again is that newly rebuilt motors seem to always run hotter. Maybe it's the aftermarket components? The change in fuel requirement? the Cam?
Anyway, if the topic starter has a good original radiator, I absolutely agree that he should give it a try before spending unnecessary money.

I am certainly interested in your products and had planned on calling you soon. Hoping to have the engine this week but still need a warm enough day to get the engine bay sprayed before I install. That's why I was starting to think about reduator options with shipping times etc. The k you
 
Nope no original radiator I bought the car as a rolling chassis. The man who had it before me had a 440 in it and I'm pretty sure he had a cold case radiator in it but he didn't offer it to me with the sale was going to use it on another one of his cars. I didn't ask him any specifics about tube size etc.

There are other great options but to not get sidetracked they are also more than what the poster needs for his setup.
 
I have over and over used BE cool and been very happy with them.
 
I found a good original copper brass radiator and sent it to Glen Ray radiators for a re-core. Paired that with the original shroud and hemi clutch fan. I did not see temps over 195 in stop and go NYC traffic in 95 degree heat. This is with a recently built 408 stoker. Good luck and happy researching!
