Seems like the big difference as I remember was that the head gasket had a tab that keys into the intake gasket to keep the intake gasket in place. But the intake gaskets that Rumble showed didn't have the tabs like I remember so maybe that isn't something they are doing anymore.

Looks like the Magnum HG also has guides for the pushrods, probably just to make assembly faster. Doubt they have any function after the rocker arms are bolted down.

Thats good, i found copper head gaskets 4.060 bore.. Too much $$ and theyre .080 compressed. Im Looking for a steel set at .040 -.050.

My understanding is that with cometics the deck should be resurfaced

It's recommended but not necessary. I put Cometics on an un-machined Magnum block with Edelbrock heads about 4 years ago and I've had no issues.

I've also used LA head gaskets on an LA 360 block with Magnum heads and again, no issues.

I use fel pro 1008 .039 thickness I think the only difference is that have that guide to hold the push rods in.

ant the difference sumptin bout a hole to let oil pass threw to the heads vs magnums push rod oiling?????

Good point!

But I expect if there was an issue it would only be if someone used Magnum head gaskets on an LA block with LA heads. Most Magnum blocks don't have the drilled passage so a missing hole in the gasket wouldn't matter, and it's also true when using Magnum heads on an LA block since the head wouldn't be drilled.

At the same time, comparing pictures on RockAuto makes me think they never removed the oil hole from the gasket. At least I don't see any missing holes in the Magnum gasket, and I do see ones that (I think) are for the rocker oiling passage.
