OK NOS Just stored badly. Even Mopar used sand in them in the first layer. Checked fine so potting is in order if I can get it halfway cleaned up.

That's probably not beach sand but binder saturated silica dessicant. we use that stuff in 'dime bags' in paper cable splices to keep the moisture at bay.
