AR-15s

-
I was hired in 2014 to conducted testing of several semi custom 1911s. All were as close as possible in layout and finish. NH, Wilson, Brown, Baer, etc. all were torn down and each part photoed and datum measured etc.

Testing criteria established. I built one with selected parts to throw in the mix. Also a new factory Kimber was used but I went through it and tweaked a few things.

Each was put through the 8k test. Granted, samples of one from each company. All but the Brown, the Kimber and mine had to be sent back to maker at least once to complete the test.

it was at first exciting to have a huge pallet of 45 delivered to my house. But there was a deadline and I ended up with blown out elbows, tendinitis. One guy can not shoot 64k of 45 in 6 weeks and take all the pictures of stoppages do Ransom Rest testing and document it all. Had to get some co workers to help.

Back in the fall I built a 350 legend on a AR. I haven't got to shoot it yet because I haven't found any ammo for it yet lol
I feel the pain. I was an early lover of the 6.8 SPC. But ammo is not cheap. And I have limited brass to load.

556 is cheap to reload!

If and when you can find primers and powder lol. I haven't found any reloading supplies here of late.

Wow that's alot of mag loading. I couldn't imagine

Yes I did. But I had a lot. Gave a lot away or trade. Currently 40 5 gallon buckets of brass. 9, 45, 556 and 308. Been a brass ***** for years. But also been to lots of schools, ran schools etc over 35 years.

It paid well but it was exhausting. Shot before work. After work. Weekends. Weekly reports. Cleanings. Became a pain in the ….and elbows.

Here's my two dogs I rescued from Iraq. It's a big long story. Long story long, the Team Guys that we relieved over there rescued the boys from an Iraqi Border Patrol base on the river. The Iraqis were throwing the litter into the river and the guys stopped them but these were the only two left. When we relieved the platoon the boys were about 4 months old.
The base was run by a dick of a Sgt Mjr that wanted them put down. I was able to fundraise the money, with the help of my Mom's animal rescue back home, and got them moved to Erbil and then onto the U.S. We worked with Operation Baghdad Pups of the SPCA International.
I have no idea what they are but they may be from MWD stock that got crossed with local dogs.

This is my current dog. She's supposedly Malinois mixed with Yellow Lab. We got her from my Mom's rescue. I do want a Malinois someday but when we got her my kids were 5 and 12. Her character is playful yet protective. Kinda just the right mix for kids. When she goes we will get a Mal and some training.

Love me some Ed Brown, I have never been able to get my hands on one, when one is available I don’t have the cash, or when I have the cash there is not one available. Typically guys that have a Ed Brown will not ever sell them, they are prize possessions.

You are now officially one of my heroes. Sincere thanks

All right you guys, I need some honest feedback. As several have discussed and or requested a gun bunny tab within FABO. I am giving some serious thought on the mechanics of said tab. I already admin and moderate a private firearms site tied to defensive shooting, as a result I have a bit of experience there. So I am thinking out loud to you guys as a group, clearly we have a rather deep technical base from which to operate so that is a plus, several folks on here with both a wide range of interest and also a wide range of real world experience. Another plus. We have several of us tied to LE and many are military, multiple instructors (obviously we love our dogs) and again a wide span of knowledge. Here are the fence posts I go by as admin on the private gun bunny site. I do not tolerate poor language or personal attacks, I try and keep it technical but often fail, as there is just to much gray there. While I do allow legislative type postings or links regarding 2A I do not tolerate rants bashing this politician or that one, (see no personal attack standard). Moderators here at FABO do a darn good job keeping this site cleaned up from political nonsense and toss those in to the NP section. Not sure how we would handle that as often times 2A and politics have some overlap? Suggestions? I have never been to the NP side of FABO nor will I ever, but my point being do we post legit legislation type updates or is that out of bounds? I am leaning towards not? Many of us on here compete, build, and or collect firearms. I see the tab as a QnA type tab that entertains all manner of firearms related questions, more technical based if you will. Think of the information already shared in this AR thread already, from red dot, to building lowers, to the best picture ever of a skinny GSD (Hah) Let’s hear your ideas and or thoughts, I do not want to replicate the AR15 site, that thing is a hot mess. Send me a PM or simply respond here. Who knows what the future holds

I like it. If I could ever go to arfcom again it would be great.
I agree, anything remotely political goes to N&P. Just guns (and dogs), possibly blades.

I like it @Sublime one

Feedback:
  • Contact Joey so he can consult with the site owner on your proposal.
  • Keep it strictly technical and that includes experiences/results with explanations/questions as needed.
  • Legit legislation type updates is out of bounds. Anything legit that is truly earth-shattering could be handled by pm with the tight circle of "regulars" here.
  • Ditto on the never been to the NP side of FABO, nor will I ever. I assume NP is news & politics. Some of that crap can spill over to other forums and alienate (new and long-time) members.
I'm here for the learning experience and "doing my homework". I'm not a newbie per se, but I don't have the depth and breadth I see here. Thank you.

I like it. Agree, no politics. My guess is if you are contributing to a Gun related forum here, you’re most likely pro-2A, unless someone is trolling.

I’ve been reloading for 30+ years, but I’m a bit envious of some of your reloading rooms!!

If you have one ring mounted on the rail on top of the receiver and one mounted to the hand guard then you will be fighting your zero non stop. Those two pieces are separate and will move around.
Mahalo for the help, kinda new to all this. Plus that one i bought from Indiana already built ! My bad for not really noticing it !

If things were to go too far sideways there is always the option of shutting down the thread.
Plus you can also ask the monitors to remove post that are out of line.

A 357 max in a rifle would be alot of fun. It's a very impressive caliber.
This Savage I just got is a 357 Max
I've yet to fire it with "Max" rounds as they are very hard to find in Hawaii

I'm all In, I am a new member for this AR page but been a member of FABO & FBBO for Many Years. Everything Sublime said goes good for me. I don't believe Religion, Politics or Covid B.S. should be on these pages. As all they do is cause arguments ! Just My $.02 worth. Lets Keep it Real ! I'm for the 2nd Amendment Till the Day I Die ! Nice to hear. I remember being in Iraq the dogs there were treated horrible. Def weren’t peoples pets i ever saw just wild everywhere. I was at the castle in Tallafar and there was a litter of pups. An Iraqi policeman threw them off the cliff. My buddy was feeding them MREs.
