Never used gas, made the smokes taste funny. Used to use alcohol no flame people would see you lighting up there was smoke no fire. Would never let anyone use the lighter because they would always flip the lid off on the down stroke on their jeans and light the lighter on the up stroke, which always bent the hinge. Still have it retired it after carrying it for 34 years still works good, hinge tight, case has brass through on the corners. But even on alcohol they still stink. Tip take the flint out of a Bic, it’s 3 times the length of a ronson.
