Quest for 7's in the 1/8

-
4 weeks to button things up. Trying to move from 8.2's to 7.9's in the 1/8th. Hopefully they'll run 1/4 and it will get to mark it's first 1320 pass. Already did manual brake swap and small crank pulley. Still need to :
  • Kit for the carb
  • Flowmaster FX straight through mufflers
  • Hopefully some passes to mess with shift points and timing games....
Getting close enough to get excited now :D

Sounds like you're on the stairway to 7s..

Yeah I hope they run quarter mile also, just wasn’t the same last year watching them run 1/8th mile last year. Good luck with drag truck!

it will be interesting seeing what changes the new owners will make. They put out their new web site and they still advertise as 1/4 mile.

So this is what we ended up doing in our Quest for 7's. To hit a 7.99, we need to drop .28 tenths (ran a 8.27 when we took it out last year).
  • Small crank pulley
  • went to manual brakes
  • swapped the bottom end Jegs mufflers for the Flowmaster FX
  • Also, were hoping to get some tune time for shift points and timing

 bumper to bumper, that was a big thing here back in 80's and 90's. lol
That and seeing who could pull the biggest tree out of the woods.
I DRAGGED a Full Size chebbie v8 auto truck, *** to *** w/ a chain, up the street and around a corner. Single cab, 5 spd 4.7 w/ 3.91s...YeeHaww! Fun night! 2 am in a quiet historic river front neighborhood Lol!

Did you run yesterday?
So I wrote it off to rain as they called 90% chance with 22mph wind for Saturday at Cordova. They lowered the chances on Saturday when i got up but still plenty high so I said "not going". Then... my friend was there and said "we raced all day". Go figure......... ...... .. Penciling in next weekend

If it will fit.....Why not!

Now, one of them Hmmmm thoughts.........
With the fan being lighter, will it engage sooner????
Putting a thought to my own question............................I think the fan blade trying to pull the air will be more resistance to the fan clutch activating then the weight!.?.....
So if the plastic fan pulls more air then it might not help.....maybe even steel a little bit of HP.

Maybe I'm way off base.
Valid Point, in my Humble opinion

Did you notice ever since they started using computers to forecast weather they're always wrong. When there's a 100% chance it never rains, but it always snows when they call for it.
I wish I could have been paid the big bucks to be right only 50% of the time. lol
Go next week and run a 7 something, its not if, it's when.

Did you ever pull a one cord tree out of the woods. lol

They suck down here, big time. A friend of mine was going to school for that, till he got beat to death by some convicts. Amazing what the classes / courses required are

Not with a Lil Dakota! That's on heck of a tree right there! Lol, but I've dropped some oaks over 4' around and over 50' high. Ps. Don't get caught. Lol. We take the limbs off, then drop the tops. Ive done Hurricane work, and hazardous removals.

It's hard on the drivetrain no matter what truck is used.
Watched a buddies F350 transmission and driveshaft explode onetime.
My 73 W200 did well, but it was a chain and cable breaker.
The secret to pulling a whole large tree is to get it moving with a good jerk.

We have several good jerks on this forum.....

For the Full sized bowtie, I let him go at it, while holding the brake. Then eased the clutch in 1st, and was creeping away. He floored his ****, spun em, and I rolled right on out! Dragging his ***! Lol moral is, he was talking ****, and got locked!

Correct. It's not if, it's when. Even if it runs a 8.10, we'll make minor changes and get our 7's
