CANADIANS GETTING THE SHAFT
Between the customs broker fees, GST, and sometimes import duties, the costs can really add up.
I have a U.S. post office box in the border town of Sweetgrass Montana, where I usually have any large or expensive items shipped to, and I bring them back into Canada myself.
Unfortunately, due to the ongoing covid bs, I had to use a broker and a local trucking company that goes there daily on one occasion last year. Troy, you are dead on, it cost me just slightly more than what my items were worth to get the broker to clear them and have them transported the 70 miles from the border into Lethbridge, and then I had to pick them up from the terminal, or pay an additional $35.00 for delivery to my house. (4 boxes, medium size, less than 30 lbs total weight)
3 weeks ago I went across myself, was there for about 30 or 40 minutes, but because I didn't have a covid test done while I was there, I had to take one and "quarantine" until I got a negative result, even though I am double vaxxed. Lost 3 days pay for that.
