Today’s terrible find

Cam looks like it's never been run.
That is correct. Never run. Just installed and lubed, ready to be fired up and broken in.
The old tried and true .480/230 street cam. Been around for 6 decades or so.:) Used quite a few myself back in the day on a lot of different brands.

As far as the engine, "If" the machine work and measurements were done correctly, Would a through cleaning, some cam bearings and maybe a quick deglaze get that baby back in business?
I have heard of people saying good things about that cam but never tried it myself. I was always after more aggressive grinds. This one, should last a million years. It’s easy on the lobes and springs.

A quick cleaning ????
I think so. But I’m choke full of engine I want to build based on the 340. One will get a forged 3.58 stroke and the other I have a 3.45 stroke crank with rods and pistons. I’ll have to have a machinist check if the bore is good enough now for what I have to drop it in and run.
OMG. I always say that when someone sells an engine like that, they need to PROVE that it is really in good condition, or they get offered core price for it.
It was in the truck all sealed up minus the carb.
