This is probably a stupid question but 65/66 is a little older than my area of expertise but can a 68/69 grille be made to work in a 65/66?

I am hoping it's possible because that front end/grille is the only thing keeping me from buying a certain 65 I saw.

Thanks all, the info on this site is incredible, lots of knowledgeable folks!

Nope.

Not without a whole lot of artistic license (and labor).

Get the right grille and sell what you have. You will be happier in the end.

The OP wants to buy a 65 and put a 68-69 grill on it.

Why would a Front Grille stop you from buying a '65?
even if it were made out of Chicken Wire it would still be a '65 Barracuda!

I think the OP wants a 68 or 69 (not sure why not a 67)...

...but can only find a 65, and wants to put a different grill on it.

I LIKE the 65 grill.

Even the 65 and 66 grilles are not interchangeable - whole front clip yes, just grille no.

But 65 Barracuda grilles aren't THAT hard to find. And if you can't find one, a 64-5 Valiant grille will fit. So. . . .

Again.....the OP wants to buy a 65...

stay with me here...

...and take off the 65 grill so he can install a 68 or 69 grill.

OK, I initially read the post as meaning he wanted to buy a 65 Barracuda, but the grille was missing. You are reading it as though he just doesn't like the 65 Barracuda grille and wants to replace it with a 68 or 69 grille. After considering this, I think you are right. Any swap can be done with enough metal working talent or at least the money to buy such talent. But realistically, not a good swap. Just buy a 68 or 69 Barracuda. Even I think the second generation Barracuda is better looking than the first, and I love my 65 Barracuda as much or more than my 67 or 69.

Partially agree.

They are just different cars with different "characters", and except for the rear cargo area and arguably the back glass, totally different styling.

Agree.

Reading for comprehension seems to be a lost art.

Side question i have some background in metal fabrication and me and my 13 year old son are about to start father son projects on two 65 barracudas he wants me to design some wide body kits on cad for him. Has anyone ever tried this on the 65 barracuda on here and any pointers on issues you might run into?

I would not do it.

Nope of the morning.
