So after following a recent thread on here about shipping costs I realized that some of the major vendors are indeed following this site. Comments on various posts by Classic Industries, Borgeson, Laysons etc, prove that. In a nutshell that means that what we want matters so here goes.

Just in case AMD, Goodmark or Shermans are reading this, there is definitely a market for fenders for the 67-69 A-Body Barracuda. I can't imagine its a great stretch to recreate the outer skin as the internal structure is virtually identical to the 67-70 Dodge Dart that is being repopped.

These fenders have not been reproduced in 50 plus years , the number of these cars being restored is climbing and the cars presently out there are suffering their share of accidents , rust-out, etc. so I'm sure there would be a demand.

If we don't demonstrate there's a demand they wont respond.

So what do you guys and Gals think?

Post a comment to this post and lets see who responds.
Cheers!

Heck, I could sure use a decent pair of '69s. If that could happen, then a decent pair of '68s would be available.

Realistically they could get away with making 1 year, 67, 8 OR 9. Make ONE of those and we could mod if you so care to make it "correct" for the other 2 years.

A decent pair of 67-69 fenders used will cost you 700-1200 each!

That's fu#kin nuts !

I saw a set for sale recently that were rusty and damaged and the seller was asking 1000.00 for the pair!
I'd buy a whole car and scrap it first for the fenders before I'd pay that.
In the business world its supply and demand so these characters can get away with this.
I'd rather pay 700-1200 for a new fender then get gouged like that!!

That's the intent of this thread

I've seen some in the last year that seemed reasonably priced based on pics, but that was US side and shipping would have killed any "deal" to be had. When I say reasonable I mean in the $300-$700 range each.

A couple of years ago I bought a pair of 67 Barracuda fenders that needed some work for $900 - and I was damn glad to find them. I made about a 2,000 mile round trip (& mini vacation) to get them.

After I bought them, a guy offered me $700 for one of them. They are not easy to find. I would have gladly paid AMD $650 a fender.

Ill bet if the manufacturers saw enough comments like yours, they would take notice. All we need to show is a demand.
These guys are all about making money. We just need to show them how.

sure Ill throw my $0.02 in! Im registered and insured and race mine from time to time. It may just be a matter of time before I bend one of them up. Um mine'll need little round holes BTW thanks

There's a lot of members on here that will/could end up in the same position. Car in accident and off the road because no replacement fenders are available. I think 70 74 Cuda prices are going through the roof and a rising tide raises all boats so we will see significant price increases in the 67-69 models. Hopefully the manufacturers will take notice and respond.

I sold a pair of 67 Fenders. No rust or damage ever clean western metal. I sold them for $800 each 8 years ago.

I found a real nice 69 from George on here for a real good price of $600. He then stored it for me for approx 3 years before I was able to make arrangements to get it to me in Ontario. All in cost me approx $1000 Cdn

They are worth what the buyer and seller decide they are worth. Factory parts are definitely a better fit than aftermarket. Aftermarket fenders for the most rebuilt car in America has some issues. So the first ones off the press will be at best”usable”. The problems these cars have is their owners. Go to any car show where you have different makes of cars and you will get the most criticism telling you how wrong and worthless your car is. AMD Dynacorn all are in business-to make money! They read these posts and they get the same message that everyone else does and that is why-you have no aftermarket! I have fenders grilles complete cars and “every” time someone comes to look the first thing out of their mouth-what is the least you will take? Here is a comparison- in 65 mustang built five times the barracuda two weeks ago I sold a roof with structure for $5000 what is your barracuda worth? It is worth exactly what someone will pay. Good luck guys but when you downgrade your own property don’t expect the aftermarket to loose money to make you happy. It’s about”money”bottom line!

I have a couple of e-body Barracudas I plan on rebuilding before I check out - at least I hope I will. I bought them years ago before the price went nuts.

One is a fairly rusty convertible. I would be tickled Panther Pink if Dynacorn would start making that body… or at least a transplant body for my rusty ‘74.

Since they don’t, eventually AMD will make some nice money on me. And with the price of e-bodies, let’s not go start the “find a parts car” wild goose chase.

There is a market - we don’t all own or want Fords, Chevys, or those ugly square body Chevy trucks everyone seems to be making parts for.

Yep there is a market but knowing what I know and have seen it’s a very very small market. Everyone has their likes and dislikes but at the end of the day they sell more square body Chevy and gmc parts than barracuda and dart parts so the investment is there. Good luck with your E body

I'm expecting a lot of comments like this. D5667 has a point. If we don't show an interest in our cars by letting the manufacturers know what we want, they will perceive that there is no market for the parts.
I agree that NOS or used parts fit pretty well but I don't discount the aftermarket's ability to supply good replacements either. I have most everything AMD supplies for my car , a 68 fastback and did very little mods to install. I watch most of the Resto shows on TV and they use a lot of aftermarket sheetmetal with little or no mods.

As he said " its about the bottom line". Sure is and money talks loud! Be nice to see a reaction from the manufacturers as I know they are reading the posts here. We have to find a way to let them know there is a demand for these parts.

This is my way of doing it.

Yes, if they could Just make at least the '67 then we would have something to work with. I reached out to AMD a few years ago and asked them about Fenders. For Gen 2 Barracudas. And they said they had no interest in the time at doing them.

Absolutely correct Bobacuda! Not everyone wants to own a Chev or Ford. Eventually, that market will saturate and sales will decline. Then its on to the next market for the manufacturers.

Hopefully A-Bodies!

Cheers!

Hopefully, by showing interest we can change that!

Yep-interest= money. No money=no interest! I reached out to them and offered fenders to use-NOS but they have no interest and I still have the fenders. Not everyone likes darts and barracudas that is very obvious. Your trashing other manufacturers does your quest no good. Since 64.5 you cannot deny the success of mustangs and to overlook the obvious is laughable. It’s money not the love for one metal over the other.

So this is very interesting. Half their work is done if they have original parts.

Just in case a Sheetmetal manufacturer such as AMD is following/listening.

Here's a member who has offered NOS 67-69 fenders as a template for 3d- scanning to reproduce new fenders.

Maybe the time is now to reproduce them ??

This is the reason I have kept these fenders they are 68 NOS. I know you are thinking that I am just being an *** but I don’t want these to go to a lower grade company. AMD is to Chrysler as Dynacorn Is to Ford-the best!

That's cool!!

Anyone from AMD reading this?

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I know I would gladly buy a pair of fenders for spares for my 69 barracuda, regardless of whether they were 67, 68, or 69 specific. And I applaud d5667 for his efforts to help!

Agree totally!!:canada:
