Back in the 80's I ran Sonic Turbos on my 440 Charger. Loved the very mellow sound without all the noise. Could really hear the engine, which is what I am wanting back. I installed Flowmaster Delta Flows on my Duster and they are much louder than I want.

Anyone know what the equivalent to Sonic Turbos would be today?

Could it be that you just aren't as tolerant of noise as you were back then. I am certainly not. When I think back to how I much noise I made back in the 70s & 80s, I must have been so annoying to a lot of people. Now when a loud car or motorcycle passes by, I don't particularly like it but I have to think of it as payback.

Likely true to a large degree! Difference now is the mufflers I have all but drown out the sound of the engine. The mufflers I have now are not as loud as some I've heard, but I would prefer more "mellowness".

I think the sonic turbos were built off David Vizards design (or patent, I don't know if he patented it). I think if I wanted the best turbo style muffler, I would buy a walker/dynomax version.
I like the Flowmaster sound, but you have to have a big enough case with enough chambers to be quiet. Most that are too loud are too small/short/not enough baffles.

Thanks. The Duster has limited space for a long muffler, so that certainly could be the case. My post has a link for the sound. Seems very close to what I used to run.

Rick the Super Turbos from Dynomax or Turbo Pros from Pypes offer similar sound and a bit better airflow (depending on configuration).

Thanks; I was lucky enough to get to test most of the better ones and some that are not as good so we have lots of data. We just did some work with the Pypes ones and they are pretty nice units.

Yes. And I will try and find the video tomorrow. They came from Napa. I know the sound you are talking about and that's exactly what the Napa mufflers did on my Duster....
