First car you ever drove

I wrecked my first mopar at 5yrs old and 2nd mopar at 13 yrs old. 1st one was manual and i was playing in car i turned the key she started right up and went through garage wall. 2nd time i was allowed to take car in and out of garage and hit the neighbors fence. Lol hope this qualfies

Sounds like me. 1961, I was ten years old, we had a 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk, factory equipped with a 352 Packard V8, three-on-the-tree manual trans with O/D, 3.92 rear gears. House had a one-car carport, no wall on the driver's side, just a couple of hollow posts holding up the roof.

One cold winter morning (Pensacola Florida, so "cold" is relative) Dad sent me outside to start and warm up the Hawk. I got in, leaving the door open, pushed in the clutch and started it. Revved the motor just because I loved the sound. While I was revving the motor, I let my foot off the clutch - don't know, maybe thought it was in neutral?? It was in reverse, though, so basically when I popped the clutch I did a burnout in reverse. WAHHH, came roaring out of the carport burning rubber at what seemed like 60 mph, open door snapped the two carport poles. Fortunately, I did at least have the presence of mind to take my foot off the gas, push the clutch back in and hit the brakes. Stopped just short of the street.

Amazingly, the only damage to the Hawk was a crease in the front fender from where the open door smacked into it. It was still there when we traded it November 1962 for our Polara 500 convertible.
