SB intake

-
I had one on a 77 shortbed 360 auto. Great running little truck. Had an edelbrock 650 on it. I wouldn’t hesitate to use another one

and SP2P-2V and a Navarro Quad-quad sharing the same post? That wont happen again...Congrats! IIRC that Navarro intake was a Highway Patrol experiment.

I don’t believe the police had anything to do with that intake. I could be wrong. From what I understand, inky a dozen or so where ever made.

I thought I read that somewhere but this one looks like a land speeder intake.

PS>> the one I saw was more rough (Navarro casting) than this one. Maybe this was based on that?

Might be interesting no matter who did it. Did they compare power numbers on an engine with no other changes besides this intake? Might have to try and find it

Peak will be down, torque band pushed lower but also fall off faster..like 4000rpm and fading fast.
Most would barely catch full advance being they wer known to stretch into 4ooo rpm with the stiff springs they used.
Most of it is the plenum..but the runners are also pretty pinche..
We know the ultimately it is a flow limited manifold byproduct of the small runners enhancing the velocity to increase such torque or Aid in it. So we could safely say that you may as well run a 273 manifold if you want just a little bit more RPM/power
I mean if you line them up and look them over there's definitely a pecking order.
The 273 four-barrel manifold does not do a lot when it comes to the flow bench...but it's enough to make 290 hp...hence the 235hp 273 once the cam and carburetor come into play....knocks off another 30 or so cfm 'restriction and less than peak flow lift@.420ish'.

I put the 256 or 258? 4 brl , by itself,onto a ported 302 head at 202cfm... and it knocked it to 145cfm.

I'll add to my last that a clean up at the windows could yield 10-15cfm on that 273 manifold...then a spacer worked to the flange and that blended to the plenum...but only if you have to run one and are allowed.

Tony put one on his 360 dart daily driver. Haven't seen the car featured in a while.

There used to be a guy I knew that would drive from Chicagoland to California about 6x a year on parts/junkyard runs, he'd take "orders" for mostly rust free sheet metal and bring back.
He would RAVE about the SP2P on the trucks and vans he used for these runs to the west and back, for straight highway cruise.......

SP2P or did he do the Holley Street Domintor?
(He did the Holley)

I had a few people also rave about the mileage as long as it was a constant drive. A o-worker of mine had the 4bbl. sp2p in a van.

The guy I knew would run them on old 70s crew cabs, last one was a 78 ex navy truck/ then he switched to dodge vans. This was up til the mid/late 1990s.

I was thinking about these and thet Holley of back in the day.
And about the same time frame Holley made one. Short Small Ports, and had a balance tube from side to side.
FYI Back then I ran a Street Dominator and 650 DP and got (SPG) Smiles Per Gallon instead of MPG.
391 gears Fairbanks converter, and a 484 purple shaft that proberly was close to 240 degrees @ 50 duration.
And bought blemishes tires from a guy since I did burnouts like on Roadkill.
The good old days

balance tube from side to side,...duntov port! i got that intake and a good strip dominator!!
