So many posts on junk 'B'' or 'L' cables, unadjustablilty, non stock appearance. Why not use the original rods? The 3 piece 65 seems so simple and has the adjustability built in. Seems you can mod the carb linkage with the Chrysler adapter if its not equipped with the lower mounting hole.

It's easy to use the rods if you already have them and all parts. If you have a project that doesn't have the linkages, brackets, etc then it's easy to make the decision to go with a cable.

I would say it's just easier to use a kickdown cable due to alot of the aftermarket intake manifolds. 65'

For me the cars are highly modified.Intakes, carbs (sometimes multiple)
When setting up a Offy intake on a Slant Six going from a 1 bbl to a 4 bbl.
Not that it can't be done.
Also as sam69sat said, no rods and linkage.

Im running a full lokar throttle/kickdown cable kit. At the time I didn't have either and the throttle cable could be found but correct linkages could not at a reasonable price. I paid about 1/4th for the full lokar kit compared to what I would have had to pay for stock style stuff. It was easy and has been reliable for years. I have a 4 door with a non-original v8 so no one cares about this car anyway

If you have no linkage at all, I can see using cable. But if you have any kind of welder, you don't have to buy a four barrel linkage setup. Two barrel linkage can easily be modified to work with four barrels. Just move the cable attachment point forward (and maybe up), and lengthen the trans kick down rod. Cost: zero.

Here's the modified two barrel throttle linkage on my 64 Polara. Lengthened the kick down rod, raised the cable mounting point. Cost: zero.

Here's a late model slant six two barrel throttle and kickdown linkage modified to work on an early slant six with a four barrel. Again, moved forward the throttle cable attaching point, lengthened the flat kickdown linkage piece from the carb down to the pivot just below the throttle cable attaching point, then spliced the late model kickdown rod below that to the original 63 kickdown rod. Again, cost: zero.

I put linkage on everything I used linkage on my Dodge ram with a Dyers Blower. I even made linkage for the diesel common rail in my 93. It just have to be the same geometry.

i use the lokar cables, easy to get/find. cant be bothered tracking down the rods., way cleaner looking then the bulky looking rods and operates nice and smooth.

cant find super 6 linkage anywhere, so I bought an imitation Lokar setup to try. If it dont work out I aint out much. much easier to obtain.

^^^^ Yes there are others out there.
Spectre makes one that I picked up at Auto Zone. Was $24.
Works just fine.
