I'd categorize that as more a '**** box' than "rat rod". Wouldn't be caught dead in that pofsSomewhere else, this thing was posted. What a mess

I don't think it's a dislike of ratrods as much as it is a complete aversion to that pos in the OP. I've seen some ratrods that were very well done, and very interesting. I've also seen some, like the one in the OP, that had no appreciable rhyme, rhythm, or identity to them, just a mess of crap stuck together. I agree that it's good to see younger people getting involved in their own way, likely in part because of the prohibitive costs of buying or restoring the stuff we grew up on and still enjoy.Ratrodding is a culture in its self. Mostly family oriented. These guys actually drive their cars unlike, I hate say a good majority of the hobby that drive to the parking lot and pop the hood. When I say they drive their cars, I mean they drive their cars. You will usually see them caravan to an event with several trucks pulling empty trailers. Yes, they do have breakdowns. However if someone breaks every stops to help out. The trailer is the last resort.
I’ve seen that most of the enthusiast are in their mid 20s through the mid 40s. Given the state of the car hobby it’s refreshing to see the younger folks participate in the car scene no matter what they drive.
I’ve run with few of them and can say they are a good bunch so before you critique them in a negative way may hang with them. Actually a fun group.

Sorry TJ, a little off topic.......I just noticed your tag line. LOL...I found out that it's cheaper to BUY your dream.Scab cab. Not a rat rod imho.
This is my first attempt. Everybody loves it. I daily drive it whenever i can. Theres more than meets the eye with most of the rat rods, theme built, or to pay tribute to a person place or thing. No effort went into bodywork or paint,as it was too rough to “Restore”.
Its fun and people enjoy it,thats why i built it.

I've got a car for him..... could he use a 54 Victoria with LOTS of patina? (read:surface rust, lol)
I saw that at sema, wayy nicer in person. Upholstery is nice!My buddy Blake builds them for a living. He started with the rat rod format and morphed to High end with a patina body.
