How fast would you like to go.

Please tell me YR didn't build your engine. lol :poke:
Haha, no it's Ken Imthurn over on the west side...he's a fabo member too.
I'll have YR do his burr finish on my intake. Hopefully he'll get his Dyno going soon.

What's Ken's fabo handle.

started with a slant six in my Valiant....18 something. Build a stroker SB, first time at the track was a 12.2....hell yeah, now we´re talkin ;-)

Since then i got into bracket racing and got the car faster every year. 11s were pretty easy, to get my first 10sec time slip took a little bit....finally last year got a 10.70 out of it, first time a 1.4x 60ft. Pretty sure it can do a 10.6x with this setup. Feels great and is a lot of fun!

Roll bar is good to 10.0.....so i keep working on getting faster. I don´t have an ultimate goal, low tens would be great with a totally streetable car.

My street 440/4-speed GTX would probably be in the 14s. Would love it to nip into the 11s. But that's a leap in performance. And steeper gearing.

I just can't. Even though the car is not numbers matching. Thus a decent candidate for a performance upgrade. I've never pulled a very decent running engine. I have race car platforms. So I think the B-body just will remain a driver. An occasional drive to small local shows. And just Hank Hill it with. "Yup"

I'd like to hit 11.90s with the better converter but that's going to be tough, I'm comfortable with a 12.20 since it already went 12.48 with the heavy low stall converter.

My car has been a best of 10.49, but typically a 10.60-10.70s car. I would love to get a 9.99 slip, just to say I went 9's. My dad bought the car in 1994 and we built it (I was a whopping 7 years old at the time). Than in 2006/07 him and I backhalved the car. But in reality I'd be super happy to be able to run 6.50s in the 1/8. Mainly because my local track has index racing on street nights and the 6.50 class is one of the biggest classes. For now I use a restrictor plate and slow my car to run in the 7.10 index. At this point in life I care more about low/maintenance free than going fast. Just don't have the time to work on stuff with trying to get things done around the farm and chasing our 15 month old around. Watching her grow and explore things thru her young eyes has change my perspective on life and I take more time to enjoy the little things.

Frankly, I think all fun part is the first 300 ft. After that, it's just driving/steering. That's unless you have an overpowered car that should be "drifting" or one that handles like a boat.

That car is a popular Ford platform for alot faster. Light, and plenty of aftermarket support.
Mine is an 86 vert stock...I'd like to get into playing around with it but...if you know anything about the 86 everything is unique to that car it's the first year for FI, the E 6 heads, speed density etc. its a cruiser, I do think a rear gear swap would wake it up though get rid of the 2.73s....

That killed me to see that happen to your other car. Any decision on a direction you are going with it.
I bought a new Dart as seen in my avatar. The old one might be up for sale soon. It will need the front frame rails straightened or replaced and an entire front end and k-member. The Dart I bought had everything I wanted to do with the old car....10 point roll bar, tubbed, battery and fuel cell in the trunk so it was a no brainer

I want to go as fast as I can make my combo go. Takes me many a years to do that.
When my pkg is as good as it's going to get...., then my focus is on truly bracket racing and trying to win........... all the time saving up for a bigger motor.........(up dated suspension and chassis i'm afraid this time.)

Well the last time i ran a 1/4 mile it ran 11.87. it has a better converter, better tuned and bigger slick now.
It's a full body/interior car. If i gutted the car it would run fast enough that a roll bar/cage would me necessary.
And it never ends! been doing it this way sence the early 80 when it was a 318. 2:76 geared car that cruised to the track running on low grade pump gas and ran High 19s all day long.

How fast do i want to go????? My wallet says i'm already there.:D

Pop a set of 3.55s or 3.73s in there, it'll be a whole different ride.
Even the 3.27s that my last fox body had made a noticeable difference.

Went mid 10's @ 130 in the small block Duster street car though exhaust with the spare and jack in the trunk. The goal is 7's at 170 with the Demon radial car. I always loved this run by this man . This car is rollin on a 275 radial.

Ive been to a handful of X275 races over the year and never seen this Demon. Is it still running on a radial?

I would like to make a 9.90s run just once. Came close in 2020 at New England Dragway, ran a 10.05. Mostly my Dart runs high 10 teens low 10.20s in the quarter, shifting the little small block beast at 6500. Chassis passed 8.50 cert 10 years ago so it can handle more just my wallet won't support going into that neighborhood!

I remember a long time ago someone saying,"You wanna go fast ? How much money ya got ?"

I would like to run a 10.90 in my 91/96 dakota sport Pro Junk yard Dakota. Best so far with my magnum 360 has been 11.24 at 116 in the 1/4 and 7.15 at 96 in the 1/8. I will be soon start building a 397 stroked gen 3 5.7 hemi. I hope to run low 10 or high 9 with it. But don't know if it will be doable with the 397 only having 11.1 compression.

I’ve always wanted to run in the 10’s. When i put my stock bottom end 360 together with W2 heads, I was hoping to run a 10.99. 1st pass off trailer was 11.00. With some tuning I got it down to 10.40. I switched to methanol and ended up running 10.20. I was more the pleased as I was hoping to run a 10.99.
After the 360, I put together a 340 with the same W2’s and cam from the 360. So far I’ve run 9.90 short shifting. I will get my license to run legally in the 9’s.

I have gone as fast as 10.40 in my Dart also with a 360 block with W2s . I bracket race practically every weekend when the track operators in NHRA Division One decided years ago to move the high end of Pro to 9.00 I put DOT tires and a throttle stop on my car to run 11.50s as I just didn't feel competitive against 9 second cars. I have been much more competitive running 11.50s in Sportsman class and also 11.50 index. Both of my current small blocks are 10 second capable my 408 ( R3 block, Indy heads, 9.8 to 1 compression ) would be a 9 second piece with a boost in compression and a roller cam. Current motor is the same 360 Magnum block, 10.1 to 1 compression, W2 heads, 585 lift cam on pump gas. Just redone for lower compression from 11.5 to 1.

i never intended to run in the 9’s but the car wants to. I did change a few things this winter. Finally built a set of W2 headers, 1-3/4 stepped to 1-7/8”(had LA 1-5/8”) and built a 9” to replace the 8-3/4”. Also going to use trans brake this year.

Im in the no roll cage camp too. But pretty sure if i paid attention to details and got serious I could chip away enough to see 11.99.

We had a fun stock block W5 combo….. had a couple blocks, 2 sets of heads, but those castings made our program go sour. Ended up selling 30 years of accumulated mopar parts and went the R3/W8 route. Overall our combo is quite soft, but has netted us a best of 5.77 (1/8) and a 9.10 (1/4). The 8 sec carrot is dangling there, but we just don’t have the mph numbers to grab that slip. We’ll keep running the combo, but if something happens to it we’re done and I’ll go back to our “spare” iron head 360. High 10 low 11 point and shoot combo. Prob done racing until September (mopar race in Sacramento) unless I sneak over to Irwindale or Barona. Vegas won’t race at night anymore and it’s just to stupid hot during the day there.

I just want to hit 8.49 cause my cert is 8.50 160 would be nice too.
