8 3/4 gears

FWIW...the avatar has an Eddie head 408 at 10.5 CR. 850DP Holley on a Super Victor. 251/[email protected], .565ish lift. 4.56 axle with an 8" ATI tc that stalls right at 5000. Built it for the track but my wife said too much of a fun car just for the track so we put it on the street too. LOTS of fun - plan is to get her to drive it this year!!
If I had it to do again, I would put MORE cam in it. No freeway driving but that's not what these cars (or this one) was made for. Very streetable and fun. Have not had the car weighed yet but guessing 3100 + me. Bests are 1.51 60', 7.11 in the 1/8th. Too much gear for the 1/4 - should have a 4.10 for that. Car needs tuning something fierce...chassis (CalTracs, Rancho shocks) and engine. I'll bet there are those on here that could dial it in better and faster than me. But probably not have more fun doing it! So hope to work on those things this year. We'll see.

I mention this just to share that the OP will have a strong car. Put some cam in it and let the tc do it's job. These SB strokers are a whale of a good time and quite capable in these light cars. I'm also a bit surprised nobody mentioned he might need a bigger carb than a 750.
