Iran across this Dana full floater with 4-10s and a posi at a tire store and they said I could buy it for $50.
Customer said to replace it because it was bad.... so they did... it wasnt bad ..lol
Should I grab it ? Will the gears and posi work for other Danas?
Out of an E350...

That's the good one. It's a Dana Powerlock. That's the better of the two. The other is the Track Lock which is ok, but nowhere near as strong.

My bad. I made a mistake on this. It's a Gov Lok, not a Power Lock. I didn't know until I saw the second closeup showing the governor weight.

It'll need housing ends, axles and brakes..... but the housing, gears and sure grip are easily worth five times what you paid.
Find somebody to do the work, and you will have a $2000 rearend for under a grand.
I'd narrow it to stock a-body width, a sell it to somebody who think $1500 for an 8 3/4 is a good deal......

I think it has 4" axle tubes so it wont be a candidate for narrowing . I originally eyeballed it because I saw the posi and thought it might work in my old Dodge C-Class. So I asked the techs what it was out of and what was wrong with it... thats when they told me the story behind it. It was in the scrap bin . I could sell it to my driveline guy as it sits for a good profit .

Wow big red X by 33imp doesn’t want u to get it. Just wow. Post number 2. Why can’t ppl just be happy for anyone. Kim
Wow, Kim, that was entirely inadvertent! Scrolling on my phone, I have done that too many times. Removed as soon as I saw your comment.
Does my post #11 sound like I'm telling him NOT to get it?

Now I am not sure what I have ...
12 bolt cover ... trac-lok with a lever ?
61" end to end .. 51" spring pad to spring pad ...
is this a Dana 70 ? Super 70 ? Dodge or GM ?
The guys at the shop pulled it over a year ago and thought it was a Ford Van but arent really sure now .

What is the raised number cast into the housing just below axle tube on passenger side, right at the pumpkin, on rear side?

ewww....that's a gov-lock differential. Maybe since it's so big, it'll be ok, but I replaced those by the truckload when I worked at the Chevy dealer years ago. Look in the red circled areas and you will see what it is. It will have 60, 70 or 80 cast into it somewhere in those areas. I think it's an 80.

This ^^^^^ is what I am talkin about.

I was just about to ask that. Looking from the rear, lower right portion of the casting will usually say (in my limited experience anyway) 60, 70, or 80?
edit: pretty sure a 60 has a ten bolt cover......

I'm apologize. It's on the BACK not the front. Look at this picture. In the lower right corner on the back. My bad.
