I need two spindles for an A-body front end conversion. I have the SSBC A153 disc brake conversion kit. I need spindles that would fit a 14 or 15" wheel. They need to be the 4" or 4.5" spacing kind. Thanks.

Do you measure the inside of the drum to get the size? If so, I think it is a 10" drum, but that wont matter, correct? I need larger spindles. The bracket that is supposed to hold the caliper wont work with my 13" spindles; the upper holes wont line-up with the bottom bolts in.

-What brakes and bolt pattern are currently your car?

-If you have small bolt pattern 9” drums your kit probably won’t work I’m pretty sure.

-I think most of those kits are requiring that your car had 10” drum brakes originally. Stock mopar 9” drum brake and 10” drum brake spindles are different.

-I have the 10” drum brake spindles off a Belvedere that will probably work for you. I’m in Alberta Canada and shipping probably wouldn’t be cheap. 75-100 bucks I’m guessing

The Belvedere spindles would also require a change to the big upper ball joint.

I have 10 “ drum spindles. I’m In Alberta Canada though. Be around $75 to ship them which is ki

Yes, they wont work on my car, that is why I need the larger size spindles. I believe my drums are 10". The tires on my car are 13". The guys at SSBC were surprised that my Valiant Signet came with 13s. I wish to look for a set of spindles closer to home. Thanks, anyways.

FYI, the factory 14" X 5 1/2" (or the 4 1/2") small bolt pattern STEEL wheels did NOT clear my SSBC A153 front disc brakes.

However, the factory 14" X 5 1/2" small bolt pattern RALLYE wheels DID/DO clear.

The Strange disc brake kit requires spindles from an A-Body 10" drum brake front, so I am sure that SSBC requires the same.

I have the 4 inch bolt pattern on my 13" wheels. I'll have to check again this afternoon.

You said you need 4" or 4.5" spacing, what do you need to check?

They do. I think my drums are 10". I do need a different spindle to make this kit work. Anyone have the correct spindle for a 14" wheel bolt pattern?

Lonnie Leach, what are you talking about?!
It was not toward you the Load Mouth has deleted his post.. He is mad because he was Belittling some one on here because of their Grammar. And he posted him Flipping me off. Because i got on his *** that it is a Car Page Not a Grammar test

I just installed one of those cheap china disk brake conversions on my 71 Demon. It was a small bolt pattern 14" wheel setup. Are those the spindles you need? Do you have a pic of the caliper bracket in your kit and the spacing measurement? It would help to determine what you need.

RSM, GTX, I will take several pictures of the measurements of my caliper/disk brake adapter plate and post it here, on this thread tomorrow, if I can find the time. Thanks very much for trying to help me out.

I have the SSBC A153 kit (the non power disc brake conversion) and it will accept only some of the 14" wheels and the 15" wheels. They don't seem to specify which ones. I called them, talked to two different techs and, to be honest, neither one seemed very well versed in these kits to give me a very definitive answer on exactly what I need to complete the conversion on my front end. Oh boy. I feel rather deflated, tbh.

@DartGTDan what part of the A153 kit was hitting the 14 X 5.5 steel rim?

scatpackbee,

As the lug nuts were snugged up (by hand), the wheels were hitting the calipers. The calipers could probably have been ground a little for proper clearance, but I wasn't comfortable with doing that.

Again, the 14" diameter X 5 1/2" and/or 4 1/2" wide STEEL wheels DID NOT fit/clear.
However, the 14" diameter X 5 1/2" wide factory RALLYE wheels DO fit/clear.
