Hi everybody. After over a year of searching for things related to the rebuild of my 71 Demon, and having this forum come up in my internet searches over and over, I finally joined. And I wish I had just done so right away. Back in the late 2000's, I built a Factory Five Racing Cobra and the guys on that site had a way of spending my money for me so perhaps that was why I fought joining. LOL

So my first car was a 71 Dodge Demon. I bought it in the fall of my senior year of high school (September 1978) because I had a 2 hr auto mechanics class and the teacher said we needed to have a project. The car was nothing special but I always liked the front grill and the demon decals and now, all these years later I have another one. On my test drive I noticed the 727 was slipping but I figured I needed a class project anyways so I purchased it for $300. I ended up rebuilding 12 727's (probably some were 904's but I had never heard of a 904 back then and I think the rebuild parts are the same) in that year without a single failure so I'm kind of fond of the old Mopars.

I'm into all car brands, please don't hold that against me. I do everything on cars but install the tires/balance and engine machining. And that's only because I don't have equipment to do so. I enjoy learning new things every day and I hope I can be of help to some of you in return.

I completely rebuilt every car in the photos below. The 67 mustang was a father-son project when my son was 14. He still has the car. The 71 demon was found in Idaho and didn't have 1 square foot without a dent in it. The roof was the worst and I created this story in my head that all the dents were made by cheerleaders sitting on the car in a homecoming parade back in the 70's...otherwise I would have been too angry to stick with it...LOL
The 54 Chevy is a 210 with Bel Air side trim. The 51 GMC was a frame off restoration that I built a rotisserie for and has a 2010 Camaro SS drivetrain, (435hp LS3, 6 speed manual trans) and air suspension. The FFR Cobra I mentioned above was sold years ago and financed the GMC project.

People often ask what paint I used on the Chevy but in such a long shot you may not notice how it pops but anyways, in case your wondering. The 67 Mustang is an economy version of PPG (can't think of the name of it) and I would NEVER recommend it to anyone. It was as thin as water. The Demon was painted in Kirker 2 stage urethane, metallic blue (I'm fairly impressed with Kirker for the money but their tech sheets regarding reducer temps is totally too fast). The Chevy 210 is House of Kolor Tangerine Kolor Koncentrate with #2 metal flake over black with Kosmic Klear coat. The GMC is Eastwood Matte Black.

Yeah it's cold down here too. I moved here a couple years ago from a life lived in Minnesota. My wife and I were just saying yesterday that this spring is starting to remind us of Minnesota winters in that they never seem to end. Of course it is way more mild here.

I'm not far from 67Dart273, and I have an Uncle in Meridian. Emmett looks like a cool little town, might have to detour that way next time I travel down to visit family.

Cool cars. Need more info and pictures of the Demon. Engine? Interior? Suspension?

:welcome: from :canada:

Great collection of cars you have. Glad to have you join the site. Lots of great people here, and for most of us, brand is not important, we're just car people.

So the Demon was born with a 225 and somebody put a 318 in it...yeah I know, why not a 340?
I'm out in the garage right now re-routing the exhaust around the torsion bar, steering links and oil filter (sheesh!). I'll post some pictures later. Besides the body and paint work, I have installed Classic Air AC in it, a stereo system, and new Classic Instruments gauges in the past couple weeks.

Emmett is a cool little town and supposedly has the largest car show in the state. I think it's on July 16th this year. It is free and people come from all over to it. There is a "my classic car" episode on it. Check it out and then make the drive down!
