Two weekends ago my little Propane showed signs that something was wrong so I called my local Vet and they couldn’t see him for a week. Wednesday night I was hand feeling him and Thursday I called an emergency Vet hospital 35 miles from me and they said I could bring him in at 3:30. By they I was squinting water into his mouth to give him some fluids. By now he was just laying around and the Vet checked him out. He was very dehydrated and had a low temperature and said they should do blood work. 30 minutes later they came back and said his white blood cell count was terrible. She said he either has a bad trama, possibly a fall or Cancer. She said he could be sent out for further testing and kemo if necessary. He was in bad, very bad shape so I asked if he was in bad pain and she said absolutely. I couldn’t have him living like that so I had him put to sleep. They prepping him and I held him privately for 30 minutes they they did the procedure while I held him. I had him cremated and I will probably get his ashes next week. I will spread him on the hillside outside where he hung out till I brought him in February 2017. 10 days later and it still hurts. My other three cats have helped a lot getting past this. I love and miss you little buddy.

RIP Propane. I know how it is to lose a beloved pet, the wife & I have lost all three of our fur babies.

So sorry for your loss. We lost our ole girl Harmony last July 5th, and I still miss her every day. We had her from a kitten, and she would have been 16yo had she lived another month. RIP Propane.

Sorry, it really sucks to lose a friend... We've all been there & wouldn't wish it upon anybody..

Thank you all and I’m sorry for your loss. I had prayed that he would go in his sleep so I wasn’t in the position of making that decision. But it didn’t work out that way. With my Parents death was easier as they both made the choice of no feeding tubes or other life extending attempts. Dad died with Alzheimer’s and Mom after being diagnosed with bone Cancer. She did go through kemo and had two good years and one very painful years. Again thank you all.

Sorry for your loss, pets are very much part of the family and it never gets any easier. Propane is no longer hurting, and while you are mourning his loss, try to focus on the happiness that he brought into your life.
R.I.P. Propane

:(

Sorry for your loss. Still amazes me the bond we can create for an animal.

Wow John, sorry for your loss. Those little creatures are a huge part of our lives. When they go it’s rips a piece of you off and it never grows back. That was a beautiful kitty.

Sorry John. I’m thankful you have the other three to help you through. Btw the hardest CORRECT decision is to take their pain away. It is much worse to let them live in agony.

Very sorry for your loss John. No matter how many times you have to make that decision for a pet, it never gets any easier. R.I.P. Propane. :(

Sorry John, that's heartbreaking I hope your heart heals fast, hopefully a kitten will show up on your porch soon.

Awful sorry, John. We have some all around the same age. It's always tough losing a family member.

Sorry for your loss. It is hard. But you and I both know that. Wish I could say something that would take away some of the hurt, but I am not talented at such.

I'm sure you two will meet again, i'm sure it's hard for you right now, hope things cheer up for you soon. You gave him love and he returned the favor, i'm sure he had a much, much better life after you took him in, that's all we can hope for and all we can do. i'm sure that's some consolation.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Be thankful for the time you had with him and I'm sure he loved you all.

So sorry to hear. I know how you feel.
I held mine for the same ending. Renal failure. Dunno if she was poisoned, had trauma to the kidneys or what...it showed to be over a long period of time. She was 8. Her sister went into the same except unlike just finding her laying around and sick.. she was diagnosed and put on water injection to hydrate and went on a year or so.
Could have been coyote bait by neighbors...or rodents that were poisoned... I found someone putting gopher poison into gopher holes, my uncle. Told him not to do that, that's what the cats are for. People are so one track minded... oblivious. This is difficult to get over. I had some kittens around that time and I had a hard time accepting them while the other was still sick n living.. but those 2 are still here. 12 yrs old now.. 2 sisters as well babers n munchkin .
Still have framed pic of my cat Peek a boo on our dresser. I called her 'the fastest kitten in the west' now that I'm gettin kinda watery..I'm gonna stop there.
Again, sorry to hear. I know its hard.
I hope that hole in your chest fills in soon.

Time, church friends, and many others help ease the pain. So many good memories to hold onto to. He and Hemi have gone to several long racing trip in the motorhome with me. I gotta get my head straight and get back working in the shop. Race season is starting.
