Hemmings '63-'66 Article Contains Some Dumb Errors

-
yeah, looking at 65 parts book, NOTHING was the same between the 6 and the 8. even the hanger, and muffer on the 273-2 and the non resonator tailpipe was different part number. The only thing that was the 'same' was the path taken.

And..."The 1965 high-performance Commando 273-cu.in. V-8 four-barrel engine had a chrome air cleaner and cast-aluminum rocker arm covers with fins.." well, half right.

I will have to read it. I need a good laugh. There is so much misinformation out here in internet land.

Hemmings ought to stick to doing the thing they know how to do: classified ads. Their automotive history/tech articles are almost always full of factual errors, thus demonstrating they know how to write clickbait, but not how to do research.

I would term them more half-errors. There was an aluminum slant block but I never understood it was an ordering option. It is said that Chrysler dropped it due to cost, though did have corrosion issues.

True that the V-8 had a single exhaust like the slant, but not same PN's, and it wasn't restrictive. Indeed, I have read that Chrysler tested a dual exhaust and found the single gave more power.

It's true that the Comando had a larger single exhaust because it flowed better than duals. the engineers knew what they were doing. I have a friend that still drives his bought new '67 Barracuda Comando. He installed duals several years after he bought it but went back to the single exhaust because it gave much better perfomance and milage. The sound of the Comando exhaust is one of the coolest sounding exhausts ever.
