This is my last build, and as far a departure as possible, from my normal car builds. Gonna run like stink, and look, well.......Krusty. Putting a killer SBM, ATI Turbo, and possibly a 9". Keeping the stock wheel-wells and Caltrac stuff. We'll scub the skank off and out of it, then I'll put a nice interior in it.

Never really finished racecar. The moly cage and rear-end stuff looks new[person who started on it]. It had a big motor in it [next fearless owner], but this thing needs serious changes to be safe and fast. The car is filthy, with some scary work done to it after the cage and rear were done. The crusty stuff doesn't bother me, but the unsafe and filthy do. We're updating the front half of the cage, then a lot of new suspension and driveline parts. It'll also get a minty interior. I figure it should run like a felon, from tracking dogs.

This, is scary.....
What could go wrong?
The guy I bought it from, was nice and the deal was fair. He also has bigger balls than me. He said it was running 135mph+ in the quarter, with drum brakes. 9" fronts.

When you cut the fenderwell it should be reinforced, especially with a big block! 65'

He may've just had less grey matter.

Years ago, I had a 69 Dart with a 440 and 5.13 gears. It was very quick, but with 9" brakes on the front stopping was more exciting than going. :steering:

Look at the cage bar....that was a new piece of moly.
That right there totally freaks me out. Much less running it at the track. Not sure that would pass tech here? I literally have never seen anyone do that. And as a welder I have seen and been asked to repair some hokey stuff! Love the car!

It's gonna be a bit bi-polar. Have all the new front-end parts, and front brakes, too. It's at AW Racecars, getting some new and moved tubing...along with other needed attention. I'm having knee surgery tomorrow. No more car stuff, till I'm on the mend...

Thank you. This is an old thread, but I ended up having a 2nd major surgery. Just when things were about well [August], I got a gouge on my shin and my dog licked it. 2 days later, I was septic. They had to tear open my April knee-revision surgery, and manually scrub the whole prosthetic knee, and replace pieces that that were "easier". It's been months of rounds of IV and oral anti-biotics since. I'm starting to get strength back, and doing more things. I'm hoping for a decent 2023. 2022 was the worst of my life. I had Covid-pneumonia about this time, last year.
This is the present-day "Krusty" thread......
Krusty is making progress....

I am curious if you have a Sonnax Smart Tech Drum Module in that fine looking Turbo 400?

Nope. I bought this unit from an estate. It's rated to 1500hp, and I have both small and BB/hemi bells for it. The ATI receipt for the trans and converter was 8K...plus I bought the SB bell. I bought the trans/converter for 3K. It was cheaper than a mediocre TF.

What does that unit cost? Looks pricey.
