resealing my trans... and swapping to a higher stall 2800 converter //.watched/read several sources on "how too" the replacement bushing seems "a little sloppy compared to the old one" do they make "tighter" burnishable bushings/babbit/bronze or dimpled???

The old bushing had copper showing in one spot...Looks like some one nicked it with the old converter/the old one is not a factory 340 no part#s on it anywhere..

when pressing the new bushing into the pump housing does it change the ID ??

both converter hubs measured the same ...

From what I have read the bushing acts like a controlled leak like a rod/crank bearing so a to large ID bushing will put to much trans fluid against the seal ...Right ?

Get a pump bushing for a Chevy TH350. It is wider and keeps the converter more stable. Also a little smaller on the inside diameter. Kim

Wrong, there is a drain back channel right underneath it, so the only pressure in there is atmospheric unless the vent gets plugged..... which I have never seen happen.
If the seal ain't leaking, damaged, or severely worn, I would leave it alone. That is unless of course you already have the front end out of the trans, lol. In a streeter,, those front seals will go a half a million miles, maybe more.
As for the bushing, once the TC is spinning, the snout is riding on a hydrodynamic wedge of oil, just like the rods , except without the hammer-action.
You are gonna really like that 2800. At least I like it. I put 2800s in all my Mopes; at least the ones with autos, lol.

my leak was originating from the front "some where" pump bolt seals/seal itself/pump housing seal ????been leaking since Ive owned it //new converter /leak warranted the re do ....bought a re seal kit and noticed a unfamiliar converter and this..

The pump gears show no ware/pitting or scoring on a 50 yr old trans / front band looked great also

well. we will find out !!! Thanx for that one!! I recall a member having on for sale if it is still around... 340 internal balance RIGHT?

Taking the old one off to check it ALSO helps me index it to the converter WIN WIN

Don't forget to lay a wrench handle or similar on the bushing and hammer it into the two stake holes.
noticed that when I reviewed the procedures of removal/and install and bottom pic is proof that the bushing is installed one way and removed the opposite :thankyou:

The BEVEL in YOUR pump...
not sure of what you are talking about/the only bevel I see is the converter drive/so what would I be looking for that would not be right ? then again I asked for guidance

I am taking "oldkimmer"'s advice and ordered the th350 bushing/awaiting delivery??what's $10 more dollars

In the mean time /drive shaft seal/selector-kick down seals/trans mount/speedo seals/new flex plate (another not thought of issue) will keep posted...

Measure your converter hub. 1.875 for a Mopar bushing. 1.871 or so for a Chevy bushing. Kim

OK, but the bushing supplied with the kit is sloppy /the bushing I removed fits the old and new hubs great/doing it right if I have to order several to get it done, so be it.. MY story///had to order 5 front brake calipers just to get the right one all were boxed and numbered the same:BangHead:

When u get it into the pump try it on b4 u assamble the pump. Kim

Here's a thought. Go to your local transmission shop and buy either the 350 or the 727 pump bushing from them. Or locate your local Trans-Star transmission parts warehouse and get either bushing from them. No knock against the auto parts industry, but in my experience, they know very little about automatic transmissions. The 350 pump bushing was also used in Powerglides, TH180's and others. The 727 used the same bushing from 1962-2001 and used them in the A518/A618/48RE series of transmission, and was available in either babbit or bronze.
