There is a small airport near my house, glide path is over my house depending on weather. There are 3 DC-3 aircraft based there, they support Lockheed Martin and other customers in the DFW area. I enjoy hearing them flying around the house.

I still find it amazing them old birds still fly. Used to be 4-5 stationed here for cargo runs, now only two of them remain , both as a parts planes. Got to fly one once as part of a young Eagles thing, pretty neat
 
Love those old birds! I was just watching the Blancolirio Channel commenting on a recent crash of one.....although repowered with turboprops, sadly. At least no one died....

Believe it or not, I actually have some stick time in a C-47, the military version of the DC-3. No power assist on the controls. If you don't trim it up right it can be a real handful.
 
One of my favorite aircraft, along with it's contemporary, the B-17.

The are both beautiful works of industrial styling.

"Ice Pilots" is a show about a North Canadian air parcel service that fly a fleet of vintage aircraft including several DC3s.
