I am rebuilding a 42RH now and want to replace the output bushing. What brand of puller and installer is a good brand to buy? If I wanted to buy a kit that had the common pullers and installers for most transmissions what do you suggest and where is a good place to buy this from? Thanks

I just took mine to the local transmission shop and they did mine for free.
I appreciate the suggestion. There isn’t a transmission shop around here within a reasonable distance so I am willing to pony up the money to buy the tools.

I can measure my bushing drivers if you have way to turn new ones from my specs.

Drivers are easy- it's the puller you need. I can't find the one I used, it made the job easy, sorry.

Very good point Murray, If it is together and he wants to keep it that way, it is tough without that special puller.

Search Miller tools and describe what bushing you are pulling on Ebay.... you may find the whole set...

If he's rebuilding the transmission, couldn't he just pull the extension housing and drive the bushing out? Why is a special puller necessary if it's being rebuilt?

You can also use an cam bearing tool with the appropriate size collet, if you know someone with that tool.

You have an email with all the info you could ever need on the driver's most shops use. :):)
