200 cc Intake
Rod mentioned a preferred intake gasket, will have to get the part number from him.
I have a set of 1213 Fel Pro’s I bought. Will do a little checking to see if they will work with perhaps a bit of trimming at the top..or not…or if I need to use Rod’s part number that is being used on the Duster from drag week he is talking about. Either way, all will be good.
That friggin intake port IS TALL..lol
It looks like the floor at entrance has been lowered some. That's apart of the tall I think.

I didn’t initially think so, but I have to agree.
Rod mentioned these castings had more meat/ room and allowed Vic more room to fashion the ports.
Yeah just based off the deck vs entrances.
Lower the approach for some bump to turn perhaps and not necessarily a bump...but to fast moving air..? Idk

I know at some point in the design phase a head was sent down to Larry Meaux( head porter who developed Pipe Max) for him to look at. He was extremely impressed with the head.
They have been on an off the bench so much, I think it’s safe to say it’s as good as it can possibly be, for what it is. Vic is very handy, going back to his days as head porter at Hughes.

I never knew who ported for Hughes besides presumably Dave? but I never asked. Larry is well known in the industry. I've lowered the entry. I've tried things that would work on head A. but not head B. With any mistake... you rebound and find ways to pick up. How much of that can you apply and be beneficial on the next port 'or head for that matter' is never certain without a few identical key factors to match.
You're always learning... and that's why I love head porting/modifying.

this was quite a while back. He wrote the cnc stuff for the iron heads, developed the ports, etc. think it’s still what they use.
Like I said on here a while back, his mid 9’s Barracuda with stock stroke 340 and 1.88 valved iron heads convinced me long time ago he was handy..lol
He broke it few years ago, it’s back together now, hope he finds time to get it out. He has been playing with a thermoquad for it.

I would be very interested, we have a set of heads in the group that are imo too big at the entrance and need some bigger intake gaskets for them. Right now they are doing the trim deal but it would be nice to have the correct gasket if possible.
I really like the heads, cannot wait to see your results.

Cometic will make custom intake gaskets.

set of 1 7/8 under chassis race headers.
I can use band clamps and couple of set screws to connect my bullet muffs to them, if I get them. Should help a little with the heads.
Wish I had a nice roller cam…. Or a bigger flat tappet with definitely more lift.
Just hoping I don’t pay for not having a Dana this season, which was my original offseason plan..couldn’t pass up these heads

I can fix you up.

Looks real good. Thanks for posting.

@ou812 mentioned in another thread that they had SCE make them some intake gaskets, they are in the catalog too. might give those a shot.
looking in the catalog i'd guess it's the 169112 or 269112, 2.25"x2.40" port dimension.

A conventional OE type small block head with that port window? Impossible.

Just as a point of reference, I have an RPM head here and the intake port opening size is 2.225 x 1.110.
The Fel-Pro 1213 basket is listed as being 2.270 x 1.160.

The space from the bottom of the port to the bottom of the head is .330”, so it appears the BPE head has def had the bottom of the opening lowered.

it does seem very large, the width seems impossible yes. Maybe it’s a typo and should be 1.25 or 1.45 ??
The image for the gasket does look like it’s significantly larger than stock though.
So it might be worth a try for these heads.

My guess is it’s a typo.
Should probably say 1.250 x 2.400.

“Looks” like it would be pretty close for Dons heads.

crudely measuring with a geek squad tape measure …I come up with just over 2.5 inches by 1 3/16 or so, might be just a hair wider.

I had my Victor ported, and port matched to a 1213. Just layed the gasket on the intake. It fits very nicely.
The top of the gasket hangs well into the head when laying it up on it
