05 JEEP TECH QUESTION

would a bad crank sensor show up on a scanner if you hooked one up ?
Not really....some guys think you can verify off of rpm data but that's not true and not an accurate way to verify that.....needs to be lab scoped. Also Chrysler is bad about being able to ID a failing cam or crank sensor......even if a code for one was displayed both are needed and in sync for vehicle to start and they mis identify the culprit.....again lab scope is your friend.

UPDATE- got ahold of my cousin that i see maybe once a year. He is a mechanic. He brought with a his scanner. A $1800 dollar scanner. For that price it better fix it lol. Any ways he found nothing that would not make it start. He was on that thing for at least 10 minutes. So in the mean time im under the hood with another friend. He pulls the fuel pump relay out & i kind of gave him hell. I didnt know if that would screw up my cousins search. It didnt. He put it back in & was moving the fuse box around & pulled it from its tabs that lock it in. In the mean time nothing is showing up on the scanner. My cousin had to turn it over one last time to check something & ill be dam if it didnt start. He is just as puzzled as i am. Now do i take it some where & get a second opinion ? Pay big buck & take it to a jeep dealer ? This is just me but think there something going on with the relay & the wiring.

For one your cousins 1800 scanner is not that big of a deal, secondly I offered very good, simple and proven diagnostic strategy that you obviously chose not to try so now at this point you, your cousin, his cheap scanner that he doesn't know how to use and any other idiot you get help from can piss off......YOUR TOO STUPID TO HELP!!!!

Projectile Dart can disagree all you want too......care to cough up some better advice genius?????? You obviously couldn't diagnose a blown fuse either......always some idiot fukk know it all on here........I'm waiting for your diagnostic help since you disagreed with mine.

If you're going to get so offended when someone doesn't listen to your post them maybe you should get off the internet. I will not argue with anyone online, just trying to offer you some advice.
You gave you opinion, he chose not to listen. It's a free country and he's free to use free advice or pay top $$ for someone else to figure it out.

TIPM issues are very common on these Chrysler products. You can unsnap it from its holder and lift it out and look underneath where all the different harnesses plug in. Wouldn't surprise me if there are corroded connections under there. I know this because I have fixed quite a few of them.

So again to my point.....is he supposed to start unplugging everything on the car???? I told him to hit it with an alternative fuel because he would immediately know whether or not he is missing just fuel, or maybe spark or maybe injector pulse and spark.......but if it fired off he could eliminate spark and the most logical thing to check after that point would be power and ground at the pump and if its there then he is done.....if he is missing one of those at the pump then you at least have a diagnostic path to work from.

Also if you look at a wiring diagram that vehicle doesn't have a TIPM it instead uses a IPM.......so your diagnostic strategy of all blue cars have failed TIPM's just got tossed out the window.......I am a BADASS with this type of thing and if someone wants their car fixed in relation to these type problems then they would be highly advised to listen.

Fair enough......

First of all i am going to check & test things that people on hear have suggested. I still dont know whats wrong. As for the $1800 scanner. $1800 might not be alot of money to some people but it is to me & my family & it might not be a big deal to some. I havent had the chance to check things yet. I work long hrs for a living. I dont have a big garage to work in. Any thing that my every day car needs & i can do is done out side. I get on this site every night to see what everyone is up to, ask or answer any questions but im done. For those of you that i havent had the chance to do or check what you suggested & are pissed off because i havent snapped to it & i had the chance to put my jeep on a $1800 scanner you can kiss my ***. I am ******* done with you people As for the *** ******* get of your high horse & stop by with that ****

Here's more good advice for you that you won't listen to either.....get rid of that POS Jeep and take a second job if you have to so you can afford a good Toyota vehicle and then you will never have to ask anyone for car help again.

While were on the topic I wasn't the one bragging on the scanner...you were...still isn't fixed is it???? It is the brains behind the buttons. Another thing that i'm getting tired of hearing is well if you won't talk nice to me and tell me thank you for ignoring good advice then you are on some kind of high horse.....Let me explain something to you junior....I personally PAID IN FULL for my education, I then started off at the very bottom changing oil and fixing tires, then I started becoming friends with older more experienced guys because they saw that I was willing to LISTEN AND LEARN....over time I invested in myself with more and more tooling all the while LISTENING TO THOSE who knew more than me and IGNORING THOSE THAT DIDN'T as what they had to say was a waste of my time and brain space.....that is how I got where I am today and that is how I am able to tell you whose answers are legit and whose others are wrong. So I will stay on my high horse as you put it BECAUSE I HAVE EARNED THAT RIDE from many many years of listening, learning and investing in myself.......SO IN CLOSING IT IS YOUR TYPE'S THAT ARE NOT APPRECIATIVE OF MY TIME AND OF MY KNOWLEDGE AND YOU ARE THE ONE WHO NEEDS TO GET OFF HIS HIGH HORSE.
