Different gear ratios?

Years ago I swapped out the manual transmission in my 70 340 Dart with one from another 70 340 Dart. The gear ratio seems higher, meaning it cruises in high gear at a lower rpm. Does that make any sense?
 
Possibly, if you exchanged your normal four speed for an overdrive four speed . You can check easily enough. If one of the shifter arms is upside down compared to the other, you have the o.d. version.
Other than the o.d.version, all regular four speeds had a 1 to 1 high gear. The other ratios were sometimes different.
 
That is a good thing for today's $4 to $5 dollar a gallon gas, better miles per gallon.
