Special Order 360?

-
That's an 8 1/4 rear. Also looks like a 73 instrument cluster. Are you SURE this is a 72 and not a 73?
72 AC controls. 72 seat belt light . Looks like a 72. My son builds Engines. You got a good parts car. I believe I have some sheet metal for a Duster here yet. Your not far . I travel to my Daughters all the time near Oxford Pa. If you need Duster parts we can barter.
Rusty is a good member as are many others. Some of the other members are pretty critical. Either ignore them or have fun with them. With some If they say black I say white. Or if you even think they are partially wrong hit the red X. Because that is how they are. Rat Bastard he was Yellow rose. He went into hiding .

Your welcome to come to the shop anytime. There is always good East coast and central members stopping in. a lot of retired and old racers.

So who is being the tough guy? All I said was I didn't understand. The REASON for that is because in 72 there was no 360 in the Dart, so I was wondering is all.
I didn't read back through the comments to see who it was because it was yesterday and I don't care anymore essentially, I found numbers on the motor and posted them asking a question about it, it just so happened that the motor and transmission were in this specific car and I knew they didn't belong to the car but I couldn't find numbers on the motor which is why I was wondering if it was some kind of special order... Turns out it was not, got all my answers but when people chime in and say things without reading your questions and then call you a dick just kind of one of those WTF things...
No matter, I sleep like a baby every single night as I hope do all of you guys!
Mopar or No Car!

P.s. can somebody double check this comment about not being able to get a 360 in a dart in 1972? I'm pretty sure the 360 motor I have was for the dart from 71 through 74 but had to be ordered?

You could get a 360 four barrel in a Duster in 74, not sure about a Dart Sport. I don't remember ever seeing a factory 360 two barrel in a 72-74 Dart.

What's the 5th digit of the VIN?

My production book doesn't list any 360's in Darts until 74 and only in a Dart Sport. The last year for the 340 was 73 and the 360 replaced it in 74.

Not the car I have, this is not the factory motor or transmission with this car it just so happens to be a 360 that was in the car...
This motor is definitely a 74.. I mean as far as the date code goes on the passenger side of it, but the numbers on the driver side of the motor had me confused, they come up as a 71 through 74 but it definitely has a a body car oil pan...
Doesn't matter at this point I guess, most likely tearing it all apart and rebuilding it with aluminum heads and all the things you can do to a non numbers matching motor...

You're right. It doesn't matter.

If you're referring to the block casting number, yes, that casting started being produced in 1970 for the Dodge C-bodies. It expanded to the other C-bodies in 1971. The '70-3 C-bodies with a 360 were all 2bbl's. In '74 you could get a 4bbl version in the A and B bodies. The block casting number remained the same. You would have to go by the date code cast into the block and/or the year and date code stamping both on the driver's side front of the block up by the head gasket, or, the passenger side pan rail pad where the VIN of the vehicle it came from is stamped.

ok thanks about the pics

Glass, and the roll down apparatus from both sides are smooth about to take the one out of the driver's side and then that's the complete guts and glass from both back sides...

Also came in the E body Cuda’s and Challenger’s in 74. Kim

Rusty my stock factory interior ‘72 dash is exactly the same as the one in the picture only green in color.
Thanks, Frank! I'm just not familiar with the trim and interior pieces on these cars to know the difference.
