I was looking for an enclosed 24 footer a while back, and the climate (political) had driven the prices for new or used crazy, on the west coast. I have an excellent open bed that I have had for thirty years, but we are moving three households (of FAR RIGHT CONSERVATIVES) to Arizona, and the trailer seemed like the solution.
However, my best friend has a customer with a F550 box truck that he can't register in california anymore. We bought the box for about a third of the cost of a 24ft enclosed and registered it in AZ. And I can get my Opel inside, and pull my open with the 62. Win-win.
Makes a really shitty daily driver though.....

20ft PJ 3500lb axles best trailers ive ever owned and only brand I'll buy definitely buy 20ft especially with a half ton you can position the weight so much better so the trailer takes more weight than the truck and it pulls much better

And RVs sit a mile up in the air!!!
Yeah, I was wondering about that part too! I had a 30' one that weighed in at a little under 8000 lbs. without water and supplies so I know it could handle the weight. I think they gotta be from the mid '90s or older. After that they went to the light weight style for the most part, I believe.

You might check out Starlite Trailers made in Claremore Ok , near Tulsa. Been in business sine '79.
Ok has always been the go to place for any type trailer.

Now I’m starting to wonder if I should get a 10k trailer with the 5200lb axles. Because I’ll also be pulling my RamCharger around. How much weight do y’all comfortably put on your 7k trailers?

I hauled a 6000lb dually, with the outside tires removed, from Cali to Arizona on my $800 open 14 footer, no problem at all. Bought the trailer at least 30 years ago, have no idea what the axles are rated.....
My Imperial has a wheelbase a foot longer than a b-body, two feet longer than an a-body, also fit fine on my 14 footer.
And I can store my trailer where I want.... which I can't, in my situation, with an 18-20 footer.

Enclosed Trailer, 10K with 5200Lb axles and a appropriate Truck. 2500/3500. Cummins Diesel highly suggested!

I really get peeved with the folks that think their under braked, under powered 1500 trucks will get it done Fine! Sure they will get it there however!

They usually are blocking and slowing the roads! JMO!

I regularly haul my wife's 06 Saturn Vue to or from the beach when we go to or come home from there at the same time. If she is already there and I go for a weekend when she's coming home, I take the trailer and haul her car home. The diesel doesn't know the difference, and it costs less to do it that way instead of feeding both vehicles. The Saturn weighs 3900 lbs. and the trailer handles it easily. The biggest thing I've hauled on my trailer is a long bed 88 Dodge pickup. It probably weighs over 4000 lbs. and the trailer pulled and stopped fine. I've hauled my Challenger conv to The Nats 3 or 4 times and to The Turkey Run once. Hauled @Big Dad Valiant wagon to BFE Oklahoma to meet him when he lived in TX.
The only times I've had any trouble out of my trailer was when I let somebody borrow it. It came back with bent fenders once, and the front axle looked like a horse shoe the next and last time. That ended me letting anyone borrow it.

I don't think anybody has ever asked me to borrow my trailer. If I know a person well enough to loan them my trailer, I know them well enough to do the errand myself as a favor.
If I don't know you well enough to do it myself, you ain't getting my trailer!

That’s exactly why I don’t want to use my parents “shed”

Does not need be enclosed per say! Depends on your preference of covered/uncovered.

Get the Trailer You know will meet your needs for the future the first time!

I have overwintered my Fish in my enclosed 24' trailer many times since 2014, with just a bag of Charcoal in a bucket and the fish was happy and no corrosion!

If you turn a sharp corner, with your trailer loaded, and you see the wheels lean quite a bit, it is overloaded! But I have been there, done that for decades and never snapped a spindle.....BUT my car trailer is 25 years old and the axles were NOT made in China!!!!!!!:poke:

My trailer will haul a 5000 pound weight on a pair of 3500 pound axles. That's the legal max that it can have on it! And a max of 750 pounds of tongue weight! Your trailer has a tag on it that list the max load you can out on it and do not ever exceed those numbers. You should have it weighed at a certified scale to make sure you are not over.
In any event of an accident you will need the documents to prove you weren't doing anything wrong.
Because you will be sued and your insurance company might cover you if your over weight.
Same for the tow truck, don't exceed it's listed capacities.
There are a ton of rules in towing a trailer.

Like i said before my 2016 chevy 1500 pulls better than my 2009 chevy 2500 ever did and i pull at 85mph no issue at all and no end to the power up hill. I have air bags and tuner had it in both trucks but my 12v cummins dually with a stick pulls better than anything i could have

I loaned it to a friend I have know since high school both times. Turns out, he got it and let his kid use it for hauling his junk instead of my friend. Evidently, the kid can’t drive for sheite! Now I do it as a favor if someone asks.

I'm sure nobody has asked me cause mine is strictly a car carrier. Open bed, real hard to carry anything but a car.....can't even tie down a motorcycle without some mods (I tried!).
