How much did a gallon of gas cost when you first started driving?

In 1979 the year before I started driving gas was around .50 a gallon , by the time I was driving in 1980 it was a dollar. Anyone else remember gas rationing where you could only buy gas on odd or even days depending on your license plate number??? MAN I'M OLD!!!

I remember odd and even plate numbers for days to buy. I worked for a place that had a fleet of vans. We installed cctv and security systems in Beverly hills and places like that. We had a deal with local gas station where we always did bought gas, thay would open up a closed island and we could get gas no matter what day. There were some interesting conversations between customers and gas jockeys as to why we could and they couldn't!!! This was in first "gas crises". 1973 and 74. And you are not that old, I've got you beat, and I'm still here!
