Moparts

Does anyone know what happened to Moparts?
Would you be more specific?
It used to be the 800 lb gorilla. There are still many good things about it but one glaring problem they have is a complete lack of appreciation for the members that contributed.
FABO/FBBO member 1WildR/T was a heavy contributor to the forum there. He had one scuffle over a simple mistake and they dumped him like garbage. Scott Smith quit posting because the forum owner saw greater value in "Infolinks" pop-up ads that take up half the page than the forum members complaints. Their greed for money from those ads chased off a lot of people.
Heavy handed over-moderation turned off many people. These forums would be nothing without the traffic generated by the members. The Moderators alone cannot generate enough traffic to support a forum.
That is not to dismiss the value that the Moderators provide. They volunteer to do a job without pay and often get bashed for it. I've stated numerous times that I'll never understand why anyone would take on that responsibility.
Moparts though....
I have not seen the snobbery that some allude to. If it exists, it is not something that I have seen.
Their race forum gets a lot of traffic.
It is unusual though that many car forums seem to be losing traffic and members while the FABO-FBBO-FEBO-FCBO sites seem to be doing well. Maybe some of that is due to there being more tolerance to express opinions here? Stuff I post here and FBBO would get me banned at Moparts and it actually has.
One time, a guy posted a picture of a woman in a bathing suit on the hood of a car. I responded..."I like sex". THAT got me banned for a month.
Another time....during the Obama years, a member posted about an Alabama football game that went awry. His thread title was..."'Bama fans, I'll bet you want to string this guy up". I responded that while I had no love for him, to suggest we lynch the President is a dangerous suggestion. That got me banned for awhile too.
I just like to be silly and get a few laughs. Sometimes the Moderators over there simply didn't like my brand of humor.
