I took the 2-speed wiper motor out of my 69 Dart years ago when I tore the car apart to restore it. I am finally to the point where I am reinstalling it. The problem I've encountered is I don't know what I did with the ballast resistor that mounts to it. I am sure I bagged and labeled it but I cannot find it. All I can find is a box of miscellaneous ballast resistors I have collected over the years. Is the wiper ballast the same as ignition resistors and if not, is there a way to tell the difference by either appearance or testing? Also, the bulkhead harness that has the plug that goes on the wiper motor also has a long brown wire with a black plastic covered connector on the end. I don't remember for sure but does that wire connect to the starter relay?

Is there one on the 2 speed? My 67 dart 2spd wipers has no externaly visible (at least from the engine compartment) resister. Maybe one under the dash, can't say!

I bought my new one at NAPA it was about $8

So they changed the wiper motor between 67 and 68/9?

I "thought that I knew" that the wiper resistor is different value than ignition. I don't remember where I saw or thought I knew that. Thing is, if the wiper resistor is higher resistance than the ignition, you could damage or burn up the motor

On the other hand I found this

wiper motor question

Last post shows measured resistances who knows if they are correct, AKA accurate

Found one listed on ebay claims this:

NOS Mopar 1968-76 2spd Wiper Motor Ballast Resistor | eBay

NOS Mopar 1968-76 all 2 speed wiper motor ballast resistor, part number 2822261.

This thread here is claiming less than 1 ohm

I sure wish we had some of the downloads available for trucks/ pickups/ etc that we have for the older Mopar automobiles

$49 ?????????? This hobby is Getting more expensive by the second !!

I'm pretty sure that my 2-speeds wiper motor resistor is original.
Here is what it looks like :

Is that a ground strap from the resistor bolt to the upper right firewall stud/nut??

They must be grounded because the studs that mount the motor go through rubber grommets

I finally found the ballast. I had cleaned it up and wrapped it in a tissue and put it in a bag. However, there is no ground strap with it or on the wiper motor. I don't remember having taken one off the car when I removed the wiper motor. Does anyone know where I can get one?
