Since my slant is down for some machine work, I started back on my 273.
I picked up some 302 castings a few years ago.
I remember the seller telling me they were not cracked.
But they are missing a couple of valves. Why I will find out.
I am going to disassemble them and clean them.
Where should I be looking for the cracks that I have been told they develop?

Now if I can just find that pan I thought I had.........

Try looking in between the two valve seats... probably the easiest area to look at first. Then, with valves out look inside the area of the valve guides, then proceed from there till everything is looked at.. but be best to have them magnafluxed at the machine shop.

They will crack right between the valves if they have been over heated.

There was a set on craigslist for sale that got so hot that the pressed in hardened seat dropped out. That's getting overheated.
