‘71 Demon at Mecum $70K lower estimate

-
Never seen a Demon or Duster 4-speed with Factory air...strange

WOW! I would sell my Demon for half that...just saying.
It will be interesting to see what it goes for. I hope someone follows this.

Is it just me, or is the front valance bent?

I remember an article back in the early 90's stating that A bodys would never be worth anything. I think it was in Mopar Muscle or maybe mopar action. Boy were they wrong in a big way. I mean damn, 70k is E body territory.

Demons are cool, but I allways notice how the wheel openings are different from front to rear, dart on the front, duster on the rear, that has allways looked awkward to me.

Yeah but on a regular Dart the wheel openings aren’t the same either.

I mean, I get what you’re saying hut I think there’s plenty of cars out there that don’t have matching wheel openings. And the flared opening on the rear kind of makes sense, even if the front doesn’t match. Maybe I just like Demons.

Oh, I like them too, and have owned a few, but it's just a "quirk" about them that I notice. I'm sure most guys have never even paid it any attention

You mean they put a slot in the grill trim for hood release? if so:realcrazy:

Yeah it’s there on all the ‘70-‘72 Dart grilles. You really only see it if you’re taking a picture from lower than the hood out in front.

And yeah, it looks like the valance on that Mecum car is pushed in at the plate, the edge of the opening looks rolled back.

I believe the semi fastback cars are going to surpass B bodies in value. I'm referring to factory 340-360 cars.

I don’t think anything is going to hang with the ‘68-‘70 Chargers unless you’re talking Hemi cars. The prices on those are insane.

A lot of cars and trucks are bringing stupid money these days:realcrazy:
That car probably has that much tied up in it, especially if a pro shop built it.
To me these A`s would be 45k at the most in my book, cause with my check book I`d never be able to afford it.

If you look at the side shot of the front bumper you see it is off a bit.
Also 15” rims and tires. Should be 14”

side note: I would not throw that out of my garage. Lol! Car **** right there- just saying.

Looks like the 68-69 Chargers are replacing E body's as far as $$ goes.
Honestly I never noticed the difference in the wheel openings until I read it somewhere. Now I see it every time I look at one. Dusters and Demons have to be one of the best looking "budget" cars ever made.

I owned a Dark Bronze twin to that car in 1980. No A/C of course ...

I have a 1970 Swinger 340 with the Torqueflite, and factory H51 A/C. I read from Galen that less than 4% of 340 cars had factory A/C. I have the fender tag and the build sheet from under the rear seat. I've decided to keep my A/C for comfort and rarity. I could post something ina help wanted post, but maybe some one here can steer me into getting my original RV2 compressor rebuilt/restored.

If someone is brash enough to want that kind of money why not throw it under the bus...... Drivers seat is tweeked (common as mine is also.) PS of hood has an issue also (look at the alignment with the molding.) And yes, Valance has an issue.....

Nicer than mine. But I mine doesn't have that price tag. Good luck to the drunk Bidders going after it. If you are in the right spot currently in the financial world the price for this is nothing really. Just a cup of coffee to the average working man...

What is the deal with charger wheel openings? I'm curious because when I was restoring my Demon I spent a few days researching front fenders because the wheel lip was different than the rear wheel openings. The duster rear body simply got the dart front clip bolted on. It looks odd to me now that I am aware of it.

If you take a look at Dusters and Novas right now they have doubled in value. Barrett had that 392 Duster sell for 123,000. Recently another Duster sold for over 100,000. Check them out--stock Nova ss 80,000. These cars are the big thing! A-bodies!
