I found the Petty Blue paint!

-
Petty himself said-

"we had a couple cans of blue but not enough, and we had a can of white..."

The key to Chrysler codes and changes is the first character-

That's why "B5" is not enough info.

EB5, GB5, and KB5 are all different.

1969 formula, 1971 formula and 1974 formula.

"T" B3 is what year formula?

Us old times have always referred to that shade of blue as "petty blue"!!! lol
I will throw this out. Did the factory has a formula for petty blue that could have been on the trim tag as the "whats the code"?? special order paint????????

I'm actually not sure what year "T" is but it's before 1965 "A".

...and "TB3" is unchanged all the way through at least 1974.

Under all that ugly paint I found the original Petty Blue. This is that 72 Duster 340 3 speed manual I picked up this weekend. Wanted to sand that old paint off to see what I had. I've got some better doors off a 72 Gold Duster that will go on it. That's why I didnt waste paper sanding down those original doors. Gonna sand blast the engine bay tomorrow.

How did you get down to the blue? I would love to get down to the original color on my car. Where paint has come off the original F8 looks beautiful.
