Balancer hitting timing tab

I saw a few threads on this from awhile ago, but it didn't seem that a solution ever got posted.

I have a 96 5.9 that I am using the timing cover off of a 68 318. ( Going into a 71 dart) As far as I know both cranks and everything else on both motors was standard, nothing special on either. I believe the timing cover isn't aftermarket as it has factory casting numbers and the pentastar on it, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's originally from that motor. ( Timing tab is on driver's side)
The PRW sportsman balancer isn't going to clear the timing tab, it's right on it and it hasn't been torqued down yet.
Has anyone who had this issue ever ended up resolving it?
Also for everyone doing a magnum with v belts who DIDN'T have this problem, what balancer did you use?
