It lives, ready to make some hits.

So when the misfire was happening, the cap was skewed off kilter on the distributor and causing cross firing or, dropping spark all together? That’s kinda how I see it happening. Almost the same as having a phasing problem. Good to know, thanks

exactly. Had two buddies( both mechanics) fool with it and give up. I have no idea how I got it to “ seat” adequately, but after about 10 on and offs, it finally wouldn’t move around. Sounds stupid, but believe me, it’s a royal pain in the buttocks. If it only had the locating tooth like others do, 20 second deal.

To better illustrate this , first cap, you can clearly see the locating tooth at about 1 o’clock.
The MSD dizzy base has a notch to accept this tooth

This one doesn’t have a tooth anywhere.
Both are for Mopar, depending if using male or female plug wire ends at the distributor

Test and tune for tonight got cancelled( rain) I had planned to make some test hits tonight, sort it out some, and race all weekend( special higher dollar payouts and entry this weekend than normal)
So, decided not to go up, get one 1/8 time trial tomorrow morningand go right into first round, without having had the car out yet.
Instead , will reload for test and tune next Friday( long range weather looks good) then race over the weekend.
Another issue, my Hoosier drag radials(275/60 part number 17317) have probably/ hopefully one outing left in them, and nobody has them in friggin stock.
So next week might be my last racing unless somebody gets them back in stock. Fortunately, don’t have anything scheduled the rest of June, hoping they come in while I am not racing.
Got my new belts in, car is ready, all dressed up, no place to go..lol

Try this place. They just got my buddy’s Hoosiers in this week. They are a local speed shop 8 miles from me and supply all the Lernerville dirt track guys.

Precise Racing

One time trial and a first round pass and I wouldn’t think twice about going. I’d be on my way. Lol If they offer a buyback if needed that’s a bonus.

agreed, if I had had the car out already, or had not made big changes( heads/ intake) wouldn't think twice.
I really wanted to get a 1/4 lick on it during test and tune. It being cancelled tonight made that impossible.
Until I get new tires, want to use these up in probably the one race they have left in them the best way for me to test the car. Next week weather looks good.
Nice to hit the tree a few times too when you are foot braking against guys using a brake

Ya I took a peek at the weather for next weekend too. Pay for test n tune Thursday then gamblers race Thursday night. That’s it for time runs as we head into three 20,000.00 races Friday Saturday and Sunday at Dragway 42.

Ohhh a Hoosier truck will be there to if you have a local buddy going and they have your tire in stock.

Jegs, Summit and Lane automotive( Motorstate) none show them in stock. Lane is 30 minutes from me and I have a business account there, get very good deals.
After next weekend I have zip on my racing schedule the rest of the month, one event I could go to, but nothing I have scheduled. Have to keep the wife happy on the boat( which isn’t in yet) too.

Hey Don - did you try McCormack Racing down in Lincoln Park near Detroit? He carries a lot of tires.

i think it is!!. They don’t have the Hoosier part number mentioned anywhere, and Hoosier has come out with several similar tires( that won’t fit under my car, has to be the 17317.
May pull the trigger after calling them, can get them lots cheaper at Lane…. But they don’t have them
Thanks for the link
I am not sure if they are the ones you need. But I did put the part number you posted in my search and Tire Rack came up..I hope they are the right ones. Hope to read about your new best ET for your car soon

I hope you can find some tires and get out and make some hits, we're all anxious to see to see how it performs.
