The shop celebrates its 16th year in business on May 31 all thanks to you!

I've been holding off on a big decision for quite awhile now in hopes it wouldn't become necessary.

Like most friends though, it's increasingly tough to keep up with ever-rising costs while earnings remain at the 2018 rate.

Effective June 1, Phoenix Specialty Coatings' hourly rate is going up. The increase will NOT affect jobs currently in line but will apply to all jobs arriving on or after that date. Box them up and get them here soon!

I'm truly sorry and wish it hadn't come to this. Please understand it was a hard choice to make, especially when a recession is likely looming.

It's either this, close my doors, apply for food stamps or go back to working for lawyers. (Law firms were always more lucrative in terms of money ... but they couldn't hold a candle to the personal satisfaction that accompanies working with all of YOU.)

Thanks in advance for your understanding, and most especially for your support!

I wish we were closer Leanna, I would be all over your talents!:D
I completely as most of us will, understand the necessary increase, unfortunately it's a sign of the times for the smaĺler "Ma/Pa" business'.

Very good and understandable to make this change.

Good luck and prayers for a great year.
No one touches my parents for ponder coating but you there in Tennessee.

Effective June 1, Phoenix Specialty Coatings' hourly rate is going up by 20%. The increase will NOT affect jobs currently in line but will apply to all jobs arriving on or after that date. Box them up and get them here soon!

Keep doing the good work. Money is only worth 1/2 half of what it used to buy just 3 years ago so it just takes twice as much of it now. People understand this.

Here is a prime example, needed a 20 ton load of Crushed Concrete to build up the private road out here.

Last time we had it delivered it was $380 dollars just 3 years ago, this year the same load costs $600 dollars.

We needed it, bring it on. Got things taken care of for now. Mentioned to the neighbors that use the road that the price doubled. One retired lady came by with $300 bucks to help out with the costs.

So yeah, it will all work out.

I ran into the same problem with 340/magnum exhaust manifolds. Over many years it became too much work for too little money. I really enjoyed while it lasted!!!

If people don’t understand why you cannot hold prices they live under a rock! Good Luck girl I’m proud of you!

But where does everybody get a 20% raise? I understand, but can/will not buy anything that's not really needed anymore. So businesses must understand our plight.

The good news for her is she can do work with Industrial applications with Powder Coating and manufacturing. There is always that need..... But as a wise man once told me about running a business, he said "don't be tired and hungry-be one or the other......"

I'm kinda in Your Shoes, I HAVE to raise Rates, or go back to the Salt Mines. But, that option in my Area, has about ridden off like the Sunset in an Old Western...Here, the Influx of Immigrant Labor has Pretty Much RUINED New Commercial AND Residential construction. So, Kind of Like Your Situation, I Have a small Market, of Customers, that Want a killer, Custom product. I went to 2 stores today, on my time to look for some materials.. an exterior door jamb, Not Available, some Exterior paint , Satin, Nope, but they had 100s of 8' Metal Drywall corner bead@ 3.58+ 8.5% tax. So I'll keep doing it, after 33 Years, until I drop Remodeling all together, and become a Wal- Mart greeter, err, bag/receipt checker ( sign of the Times, part of the New Normal!) Ive seen MANY pics of Your Craft here. Indescribably Beautiful! KEEP ON DOING WHAT YOU LOVE, THAT GIVES YOU FREEDOM!!!!!!! (and no way In hell I'd go work for those commies) Peace!

That's the Darn Smartest Thang I've heard in a Long Minute! With theTalent She Has, She will Stay Cooking !

@CudaChick1968

I hear you on the cost side of things for sure. My wire cost are 2.5x what they were 3-4 years ago, relays 2X, terminals (some 4x). Haven't raised prices in 5 years IIRC. Going to need to pass a bit of the cost increases along as much as I hate doing that.

Take care and you might have a new neighbor soon! LOL
