I recently rescued a '75 Swinger almost sight-unseen that turned out to be a really decent car underneath the dirt and rat poop.

What is mildly interesting is that it was built at the VERY end of production for that model year. The Scheduled Build Date and the tag is is 919, which would have put it into 1976 production and likely built as such, but they squeaked it by. The door sticker is 8-75 and the MDH is 8-29-20.

Good options. It's a slant but has manual BBP discs, 8-1/4, AC, PS, A07 with the Light package, Quiet package and fuel pacer included. Still has it's cat-con. Gonna clean it up, fix the trunk and drive it.

Does it have a ‘75 title or VIN?

Because typically, the model year production started the 1st or 2nd week of August. So an 8/75 build would be a ‘76.

For example, my ‘72 Challenger was built 8/17/71. It has more than a few leftover ‘71 production parts, but it is definitely a ‘72 model year Challenger.

1975 Hamtramk production VINs ran into at least the 3955xx range.

Model years from 1972 on ran longer than from 1971 back.

Interesting! So the early August to mid-July was primarily a '72 and earlier thing?

If they ran the VIN's out to 3955xx range then they still made more than a couple of '75's after this one.

Forgive my ignorance, but what’s that thin piece of metal attached to the fender tag? I have not seen that before & 1 of my cars has it as well

Inspection tag.

Various types were used on some cars with plant variations as well.

I just noticed your photo of the Mylar door sticker.

The SPD (scheduled production date) on the fender tag is 919 - BUT - The MDH code (Month, Day, Hour) of final completion on the door sticker of 082920 is over two weeks earlier.

So, more proof for the under-educated & online decoders that list the SPD as the 'build date".
