Your old dream (car). What happened?

-
Throughout my teens, my dream car was a 69 Super Bee.

When I was 20, I found a 70 I could afford.
I drove it for 5 years while working on it and collecting parts.

It needed both quarters, the rear window corners and a trunk floor.
At the time, only the trunk floor was being repro'd, which I bought.
I also bought a whole car to get a full driver's side quarter.

Realizing I was probably never going to be able to afford to have the body repaired, and running out of room, also owning a 73 Duster and 71 torino gt, I sold it and all the parts.

One of the stupidest things I've ever done.

i've had a few but never had had a dream car, i don't get attached to things. Sometimes wish i had my '71 "cuda just so i could sell it for big bucks today. My favourite changes continually to the one i'm working on.
If i had a dream car this would be near the top of a short list.

Not buying a perfect red 69 Boss 429 Mustang in 1984 for $10,000. However the owner took me for one of the best rides I've ever had in my life still to this day. I was 19-years old and had the cash to buy it, but was engaged and figured using the money for a house was a better plan. Long story short I never married the girl or rode in another Boss 429 since.

Over the last 4 decades I have had about everything. I never get married to a car. They have always come and gone, sure I can remember the 69 A12 F6 green 4 speed SuperBee I did the full resto on like many, but that was about '93 maybe and it went down the road for maybe $10,000. I saw two on Mecums at Indy yesterday sell for what, one was $85,000 and the other was $120,000! Funny part is I liked just a plan ole 68 or 9 383 Runner better!!! :realcrazy::poke:

More story. Back in the mid 90s I took a slant 3 on tree Ply 64 Savoy and did it up with a 440, 4 speed and later 8 3/4. The oem turkey turd tan paint as still decent!!!!! I really liked that car and the idea of such for me, a NON racer kinda guy. (Never figured I could afford the strip deal!). But I questioned my thinking, it was NO muscle car, no one had invented the clone deal yet. It of course found a new home back then. But that car stuck in my mind. About 1 1/2 years ago, a friend told me of a 64 Savoy, that could be had..cheap. Been sitting in the guys little bone yard since /80, and home to many critters over the decades.
Here I am 74, can hardly get up and down, 4 Mopars and 1 AMC and I tell myself I need just 2 cars that are DONE! I finished the body/paint on this Savoy last fall, still a roller half interior done, found a good 383 that needs a fresh job at least, I have the 4 sped, and 67 8 3/4! Who will change out the K, build the suspension, and change the rear!????? BUT I want to get down to 2 cars!!! So I advertise all the Mopars, the AMC Hornet will get a little metal work and shiny paint this fall.
Three maybe close calls on selling the Savoy, BUT I am so glad no one bit. I guess that car is MY DREAM CAR!!!!!
One million illegals come across the border every year, ya would think I could find just one to help me do this heavy stuff!!!!! DELETE!!!!! Could be considered by the mods P & P material!!!!!!!!:poke::BangHead:

...Hey Barbee, i must have missed your add. I had been looking for a '64 Savoy or Fury for about 4 years, finally gave up and bought my current project.
A 64 Savoy is on my all time favourite short list!

"Dream Car?" Guys you only live once!! Get off your *** and buy or build your "Dream Car" dying with a bunch of money has never been my goal. I always wanted a 68 Fastback Barracuda so here it is LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO DREAM , LIVE IT!!!

I have had it on here and FBBO, and every Mopar site on FB!!! Funny part is IMHO it is pretty much as bargain, but half (hard part) done. Most peeps want a total project for really cheap or a done car that they think they are stealing!!! LOL
I would probably still sell it to a good home BUT I am hoping a couple others sell first!!!!
Four speed hump went into today, new AMD windshield and ACC carpet goes in a few days.
I have a guy on FBBO that has a good running 383 he pulled out of his 67 Coronet 10 years ago he will sell me, and it sits in his garage!! Road trip. 8 hrs. Nothing in Tx. is ever close!!!

it was a pretty successful street racer. we had a few arguments about how it was equipped. we think that one of the sore losers did it.

Had to think about it, but of the cars I got rid of, the only one I would like to have back, believe it or not, was a 1958 opel rekord wagon.
I wanted to make a gasser out of it, but didn't have the talent, tools or equipment to do the job. By the time I had access to everything I needed, ......the opel was long gone.
I still do like itty-bitty foreign cars with big v8s.

my second car was an opel kadett
(one of the last ones, that no longer looked like a classic American muscle car)

as silly as it sounds, ive had the idea in the back of my mind to find another one, convert it to a 360 RWD and slap on all the body mods that were popular when i had mine

the ricers will never know what in the world it is

You’re right but I’ve two new yung’ns AND fixin’ to still retire early (I know I know).

I reckon that im driving mine already. Every time I break something, I dream about how im going to make it better. Happens all the time!

My point was and is this. IF you really want something STOP DREAMING ABOUT IT , MAKE IT HAPPEN. My best friend was paralyzed from the neck down back in 2007. It REALLY opened my eyes as to how short life can be. What happened to him could happen to anybody at anytime. I had always dreamed of hunting out west for elk. I booked my first guided hunt out west a month after his accident. It's a long story but moose hunting had always been a "dream" as well. In the fall of 2007 I shot a bull moose in New Hampshire , The fall of 2008 I shot a 7 x7 bull elk in Colorado , since then I shot another moose in Newfoundland. I am NOT WEALTHY although I work a full time job and have no kids. I've managed to "Live the Dream" by planning and saving towards a goal. The cars I've had I've mostly built from what I could afford to buy at the time , then saved to build into the car I wanted. If I died tomorrow it would be without regret for the things I've done , ONLY THE THINGS I HAVEN'T.
In my profile are the words "LIVE FOR TODAY ,TOMORROW NEVER COMES" There's my explanation
