1974 Plymouth Cuda fell into my lap….KINDA

-
I can't remember for sure ?
I thought some California cars did not have the rear valance with with dual exhaust cutouts ?

I think all Cuda and Challengers built for California with dual exhaust had plain turned down tips below the valance. My friend has a 70 Challenger 383 4bbl that was a CA car and it’s this way too

You can get a "cuda" with a 318. And a 4 speed. Meaning a BS coded car.

The car has A/C.
Seems the dash is a cap. So original dash is most likely really cracked. -2k

If it's an E plant code, yes the tips will be turned down.

Cudas hold way more value than challengers. Even Hemi's.
Always faster and easier to sell a cuda over a challenger.

Since I feel 34K is the top out of the car, I would probably offer 28K. But offer it in form of an actual check or cash. Cash gets folks to buy when you set 25K on the car.
That's about a half a brief case though. So you have to stuff the other half of the case if your bringing 25K cash. Just sayin...

I like your style! I’m in love with these old cars & if I got it for 25k I’d be ecstatic!!! Yes I will be bringing cash money. I even told him on the phone if we make a deal you could call anytime & come take her for a rip. In my OPINION half the joy is the car & other half is the story behind them. But yeah for 25k I wouldn’t have to eat ramen noodles all summer lol

I did not read the 3 pages of comments and the last of my, maybe 20 odd E bodies I had, was 1992!
Any E newer than 70,71 will take it in the shorts, not as bad as 40 years ago because NO ONE wanted one then.
It just a 74 Car with the 6 pack added, which means its worth what ever people will pay for that year and condition car, then maybe add what you could sell off those parts for. NOT putting down the model, it is what it is. Not really any kind of clone, just a fun cool hotrod.
Is this a car that makes you happy and how many$$ do you want to invest in HAPPY???
I always as myself on $$$, Can I spend that same amount on another car and be HAPPIER!?????

Make sure their is no bubbling under that vinyl top. deduct if is, bigly
Bah, roof skins aren't that hard to do the whole thing and even easier to patch. I took the roof of my 73 'Cuda on Sunday in less than three hours, and that included drilling out all of the spot welds. If I didn't have a bunch of rust repair on the sub-stucture, it's about ready for the new skin.

Just a heads up during today's rising fuel prices, that 440 Six Pack is going to drink the fuel.

Nearing $5.00 a gallon for Premium. Could be one of the underlying reasons he is selling it at this point in time. Could be a bargaining chip for you to help negotiate a better price.

Good Luck on your find, not many of those around anymore that people can actually afford to buy.

Who buys a car like that and then worries about the price of gas ? I would pop the clutch at the first traffic light I came to after I left the notary.

Everyone is different, I know millionaires who will drive an extra 3 miles just for 1cent cheaper on fuel haha…….But I get what you’re saying. I run 110 in my pro street valiant and that’s 16/gal

Here is one (not mine) for comparison in MN not far from me....asking $39k, different year, pretty nice car, not correct, and it doesn’t look as nice as the one you are looking at and had a small block....also located the link to the ad if someone wants to see more pictures

If you are worried about price of premium... then a 440 is not for you!!!!
I've had plenty of the real ones decades ago..Now I must rather drop a 440 in a whatever and drive and not worry!

The price of premium is a cake walk for me, I pay $16/gal for race fuel. It’ll feel nice paying $4-$5 per gallon

Looks like the grill end bottom tab is broken off all the way on the drivers side and partially on the passengers side.
These grills are not remanufactured, at least not like the 70 or 71 so they are difficult to find. They can now bring more than an original 0-1 since they are no repoped.

There is someone repoping these, but few and far between. Maybe someone here knows where?
Jeff at 521 Restorations in Ft. Collins has the 72-4 Cuda grill. I got one last year. Really nice unit.

Looking at the pics when I first opened the thread, I was thinking 30,ish if it isn't rusty or patched up underneath. Being an L code 360 car would add maybe a teensy bit of value if the numbers matching motor/trans was laying around somewhere to go with it. I sold a 74 Cuda 4 years ago...triple black 360 car with the numbers matching block with it.....nice roller that needed a full resto and complete other than a transmission for $9K. Any E body is high, because the demand is higher! Good luck with the purchase....and be sure to check the frame rails good if it has always lived in your part of the country.

I would pop the clutch at the second and third traffic light too.

Good comparison, I don’t think I’d pay 35 for a 340 car. I’m in love with the fact it’s a 440 4 speed
The 340 in any body is a good ride. I drove several times a 70' E body, 440 6 pack and did not like the roll in turns. Try turning a wheelbarrow full of dirt, that is what it felt like. A strait line, they were fun. If it is not a patched together car and frame not rotten, then I think the asking price is right on. Sometimes, number matching is not king. It is, what it is!!!!!

What a beauty! These cars are not getting any cheaper and like real estate, they don't make them anymore. The value is in the eye of the beholder and the person who will pull the trigger.

My buddy just traded off a 73 cuda, original 318 car, but had a 426 hemi, 727, dana 60.
He could not sell it at 35K, it was a nice car, but just could not find the right buyer.
Ended up trading it for a decent glass 33 Ford with a big block chevy and a 671.
I think with the economy the way it is, people are holding on to their cash.

Agreed!!!! Those with the High End toys, have the means to hold on to their hobby. For the average Joe, it's a good time to hold on to what you have and pick up some parts for your projects, as many are trying to balance their households and putting their projects on hold. The next couple of years you should find some good deals, if you have the cash. I have been doing upgrades on mind, but no new projects.
Recession will equal lower prices for the lower end toys.
